THe HIT List April 26 - May 2 (2021)
Joyner Lucas & Lil Baby - Ramen & OJ: Kicking off with keys reminiscent of Lil Baby's 2020 hit "The Bigger Picture" Joyner starts the track of with a staccato flow. Surfing the beat he goes in about his allergies (he's allergic to suckas), his drive to win at all costs and his recent real estate acquisition. LB recounts a friend of his going home to catch his queen gettin her cheeks smashed to smithereens by another guy. He also boasts about never having been dumped (swag) and his desire to become better year over year. Great track to play in your 04' Impala on the way to the gym for Leg Day.
DJ Khaled ft. Jeremih & Lil Wayne - Thankful: The opening track to his new album "Khaled Khaled" the Miami Legend samples Bobby "Blue Bland's "Ain't No Love In the Heart of the City" which was famously sampled by Jay Z on his 2001 album "The Blueprint". Jeremih starts the party. He almost lost his life to COVID-19, hooked on a ventilator, in intensive care for weeks in November 2020, he miraculously pulled through. On this track, he give thanks for life, for the people that prayed over them and for the homies who stayed down when others counted him out. Wayne comes in and pays homage to Kendrick with the line "Sit down, be thankful" like Kung Fu Kenny on "Humble." Wayne talks about smiling through the pain and waiting for the rappers he influenced to give him his flowers "I've been quiet man, just waiting on these rappers to thank me, de nada" I've had this on repeat all weekend. All check out these other tracks on "Khaled Khaled":
I DID IT (ft. DaBaby, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion & Post Malone)
LET IT GO (ft. 21 Savage & Justin Bieber), BODY IN MOTION (ft. Bryson Tiller, Lil Baby & Roddy Ricch)
SORRY NOT SORRY (ft. Nas, Jay Z, James Fauntleroy & Harmonis by The Hive)
I CAN HAVE IT ALL (ft. H.E.R., Meek Mill & Bryson Tiller)
Shelley FKA DRAM - Something About Us: The Artist formerly known as DRAM flipped one of my favorite Daft Punk tracks (also titled "Something About Us") and included it on his new album "Shelly FKA DRAM." Shelley adds a soulful touch to an already funky tune. This is one to play on your JBL Charge 4 while you and your main lady are engaged in a passionate sideways 69. You'll both be nuttin in no time. Check out the whole album which includes standout tracks:
All Pride Aside (with Summer Walker), The Lay Down (with H.E.R. & WATT)
'93 Acura Vigor (ft. Erykah Badu)
Cooking with Grease
Remedies
Skillebeng ft. Rich the Kid & Jay Critch - Real Boss: My kinda tune! Rich the Kid handles the chorus and makes us aware of his expensive Forgiato rims, his millions in cash that he keeps in a loft, and a chicken head friend of his who he told to "Gobble" (I'm assuming he was asking for a little fellatio). Him & NYC MC Jay Critch take the first verse where they touch on money, marijuana and mamacitas. Skillibeng finishes in Patois describing getting his meat sucked in all kinds of ways. I'm a fan of the video too!
Chino Cappin - On My Last: The GA artist samples Fabolous' 2003 hit "Can't Let You Go" on this one. He sings about being down on his last and not being able to get a text from a young lady but now that he caked up, she coming round trying engage in sexual intercourse with him. He also speaks about his homies that tried to snake him. Chino doles out advice, to not get hypnotized by the kitty. Amen. (I'm a sucker for a good sample as you can see. I think the brain likes familiarity.)
Blvd Mel ft. Fredo Bang - Bottom Bash: Upbeat, down south, beatdown music. Blvd Mel, who's obviously off the boulevard, doesn't let that prohibit him from Bottom Bashing an opp. Best not play with Mel because he'll "Eat ya like some sandwich meat." He's also never done cocaine like Lil Dicky. Fredo describes himself and his crew as expert marksmen and suggests you don't play games as he "got it on his lap".
Lil Skies ft. Zhavia Ward - My Baby: Skies is looking to make a trade on this one. He offers his heart in exchange for his shawty's love. Her love has been the best since the begining and he trying to hold on to the feeling. She drives him crazy but that's why she's his baby. Zhavia wants her man to give her everything and more and then everything of hers will be his. This song is about reciprocation. I blaze you, you blaze me. Or y'all could just hit a standing 69 and break each other off at the same time #twoBirdsOneStone
Lil West - Date a Star: 808 Mafia production on this track. Wavy vibes. On this one LW, preps his girl for the high life. All of his girl's friends despise him but he encourages her to look past that. Things move differently when you date a star. He's just making sure she understands.
Meek Mill - Lemon Pepper Freestyle (Freestyle): Meek went in on the Drake & Ross smash, describing his ascent from the bottom and his hope to stay afloat. He advises his youngins to stack paper instead of spending it all on designer jeans and to refrain from posting firearms on the internet. #wiseWords He also describes how he makes one of his ladies orgasm with slow strokes in the doggystyle position then going hammer time fast in the missionary position. This combination (in addition to his gangsta) made her fall in love.
Smiley - In My Zone: "She wanna be known, I wanna be in my zone" I admit when I first started listening, I wasn't sold. But the video kept me invested. This shit grew on me quick! Very catchy and the Toronto artist (and friend of Drizzy) smoked the sketch in the middle.
Vedo ft. Jacquees - For Me: "It's that sundress wit no panties on for me" Me too, my nig! Nice R&B track to add to your sex playlist. Light some candles and some incense and go downtown to browntown on your main damie. (I'm talking bout eatin ass). Vedo loves seeing his shawty's face sans makeup when they wake up. He also loves that she rolls marijuana cigarettes for him to smoke and as he inhales the reefers she prepares breakfast and brings it to him in bed as he will undoubtably have the munchies. #QueenShit Jacquees loves when his bottom bitty digs her nails into his back as he strokes her with his throbbing member ever so gently. He admits to wanting to be with her forever, wants her to be his wife and start a family by not pulling out whilst doing the intercourse. Don't forget the pre-nup my G (respectfully).
