The Hit List week 103: (April 10 - April 16)
Rick Ross, The Lox & Fat Joe - The Game: Three legends linked for an epic track that ushered in the start of the NBA Playoffs. Also, I think Ross has a new partnership with DraftKings as they were featured in the video (and posted it from their account on YouTube). The guys talk about winning and losing, the analytics, MVPs, betting on yourself, overs and unders and how The Game never stops.
Amir Obé ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR & G.Ry - TALK TO ME NICE: I been rocking with Amir Obe since he was Phreshy Duz It. Him and PND have made some bops over the years. They’re back it again with a smooth R&B track that sounds like vintage PND and they got Platinum producer G. Ry on the beat. AO spits to his shawty. Them other chicks want him but he don’t want them, only her. PND loves his shawty like he loves his drugs. He implores his main damie to Talk To Him Nice. He’s not with the procrastination and when he says “I love you” he really means it.
NLE Choppa ft. Lola Brooke & Modesty - AUTOMOBOOTY: Memphis’ NLE Choppa released a new album this week called “Cottonwood 2”. Super dope project, I liked it way more than I thought I would. Lotta slappers for the whip and one of the best ones is “AUTOMOBOOTY” with Lola Brooke & Modesty. The beat crazy as NLE promises to eat booty and have his shawty dickmatized (hypnotized by the D). He just asks that she don’t forget the balls. Lola handles the hook and sees shawty doing all that twerking. She asks can she do it on the dick tho? This one goes up in the club. Check out “Cottonwood 2” and these highlights:
DO IT AGAIN (ft. 2Rare)
AIN’T GONNA ANSWER (with Lil Wayne)
CHAMPIONS
HABITS (with Kevin Gates)
ROUND & ROUND
GLIDE WITH ME
OhGeesy ft. Tyga - Chrome Hearted: Shoreline Mafia’s OhGeesy is set to release his new project “GeezyWorld 2”. He’s dropped a few singles in the leadup, the latest is this collab with Tyga. This one’s a certified bop, one of the best tracks to drop this week. It has that West Coast bop and the piano keys really sauce it up. Both OG & TY getting money in large amounts so they can afford as much Chrome Hearts as they want for them and their loved ones.
Pi’erre Bourne - Chicken and Waffles: Ayo Pi’erre! The superproducer and artist dropped a new project this week called “Grails”. I always say, it’s a cheat code when you can chef your own beats (because you can save the best ones and the ones best suited for you). My favorite track is Chicken and Waffles, a wavy track where P describes his drip and how much it cost (alotta racks). He smokes 2 zips of Za everyday and he gets food with his friends. Chicken and Waffles everyday.
Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana (Remix): Queens & The Bronx together on 1 track. I think these 2 have been teasing this collab for a minute. Lots of playful back and forth on social media. Well, they finally dropped it. The track and the video are special. It’s a funky NY Drill track and both ladies are royalty like Princess Diana. Nicki is one of the greatest rappers of all time and it’s dope ro see her collab with a rising star.
AD & Chrishan & Slim Jxmmy - Diamonds: AD been rapping and putting out dope tracks for a minute, well before he became a well known podcaster on the No Jumper network. He dropped a new collab project with fellow Cali-en Chrishan this week called “Heatwave”. Dope project, it has that New West Coast sound throughout. I really like the O.T. Genasis collab “U Luv It” and my favorite track is this one with Slim Jxmmy “Diamonds”. Produced by Hitmaka, the hook is one of the catchiest I’ve ever heard. Chris vows to buy shawty diamonds and Birkins as long as she deepthroats the meat. AD is down to sip some 1942 and then 69. He has all his ladies gushing when he’s done. Jimmy gets all his shawty extra wet. She a quiet chick but he brings out her freaky side. The way she slobs and bobs makes him think he found a wife.
SZA & Doja Cat - Kill Bill (Remix): Ladies dominated this week. We got a banger from SZA and Doja with the remix of the track “Kill Bill” that was featured on SZA’s most recent album “SOS”. Doja recently promised no more Pop/R&B Doja, all rapping from here on out (here’s a grain of salt, take it). She showed out on this one. DC spits bars about catching her man cheating after she gave him the world. She had to whip the blick out on ol girl after she tried to come at her with a kitchen knife. She may be a cat but you ain’t gone dog her out.
Yung Bleu & Chris Brown - Distant Lover: Yung Bleu dropped a new album this week called “Love Scars II”. He released a good chunk of the tracks in the lead up and they all were fire. My favorite album cut is “Distant Lover” with C. Breezy. They both have Distant Lovers, she far away physically but emotionally they close. The guys will hop on a flight ASAP to get to her right away. She knows how to turn them on and be having they mind spinning. She be having them coming back again and again.
Heembeezy ft. Cash Kidd - Out The Gutter: Heembeezy dropped a new slapper with one of my newly discovered favorites, Cash Kidd. It’s about rising from the struggle. The beat has that funky New Bay Area sound. HB got tired of being broke so he got up Out The Gutter and got to the paper. Cash Kidd keeps the water on him and he bout to spin the block on the opps. He was a Bebe Kidd, now he a rich child.
Shawny Binladen - iNDEPENDENT: NY Driller Shawny Binladen dropped a new project this week called “WiCKMAN StiCKMAN”. It’s filled with Drill anthems, my favorite is iNDEPENDENT” which has a snap beat and finds SB promising to send missiles to the opps. He knows it's not how you start it’s how you finish. He’s a menace like Dennis and he’s enjoying the high highs of the fast life.
Kodak Black - No Love For A Thug: Yak is back with an introspective track for ya headtop. He talks about some of the trappings of fame. He lost homies and lovers. He gets lonely and he has to put on a facade and pretend he’s happy. Sometimes he hates that he’s famous, but he loves getting that paper. He raps that gangsta shit, but deep inside he knows he just needs a hug. He knows there’s No Love For a Thug.
El Michels Affair & Black Thought ft. Son Little - Protocol: Black Thought and band El Michels Affair dropped their collab project “Glorious Game” this week. Dope project, top tier lyriscm with A1 production. My favorite track is “Protocol” with Son Little. It’s a funky track where BT admits he’s not a know-it-all. The Protocol is overhaul but he’s focused and he’s finally doing something on his own accord. Son Little sings the hook and lets us know that his soul is not for sale and that his opps probably can’t read. BARS!
NBA Youngboy ft. Mariah the Scientist - RearView: Here’s a collab I wouldn’t have thought of. YB is loading the clip for his upcoming album “Don’t Try This At Home” and he’s already released a bunch of tracks in the leadup including “WTF” with Nicki. This week he’s back with a melodic track with ATL starlet Mariah The Scientist. He laments one of his bitties leaving him. She got him tatted, he blessed her with some cash then she dipped. Now he’s looking through the RearView as he leaves their relationship in the dust. Mariah sings about regret. She shoulda left mans earlier. She chased him for too long and now she’s heartbroken and knows that its time to call it quits. It’s one of those male-female perspective tracks (2 sides to every story).
Yung Pinch - Bullseye: Beach Boy back! One of my favorite White rappers, Yung Pinch, dropped a new project this week called “4EVERFRIDAY SZN 4”. I loved all the tracks that dropped in the leadup including “Can’t Keep Up”, “Smoke & Mirrors” and “Life’s Still Great”. My favorite album cut is “Bullseye”. It’s a smooth track where Yung Pinch spits to his shawty. She don’t miss, she’s hitting Bullseye every time. He gotta keep a bad one because the life he lives sometimes gets lonely.
Jorja Smith - Try Me: UK’s Jorja Smith dropped a hell of a track this week. “Try Me” has a super dope beat and finds JS asking somebody to try her (like Dej Loaf). She’s safe behind her walls and she’s changed like a caterpillar to a butterfly. She knows for some people, nothing is ever enough. She standing ten toes on her square and daring anybody to Try Her.
Grafh & 38 Spesh - Already: 2 of the game's best lyricists dropped a collab project this week called “Art of Words”. Dope project, the Boom Bap heads will especially love this one. The Coway collab “Rain Falls” is flames and my favorite track is “Already”. Cinematic beat, and A1 bars. G & Spesh ain’t coming to play and they got ice in they veins. They live by the gun and die by the gun, real niggas Already know.
Sugarhill Ddot - Let Ha Go: Another Week, another great find on the Apple Music New Hip-Hop playlist. This one comes from NY Driller (and Universal signee) Sugarhill Ddot. SD don’t trust a soul, and will never love the hoes so he had to let his shorty go. He’s a star and he don’t have time for games and petty shit. He remembers the days when he was broke. Now he getting hella bread and he celebrates by smashing all the smeezys.
Big Yavo - Back In That Mode: Another banger from the Apple Music New Hip-Hop playlist. Some player shit, the beat is one of the best on the list. BY stays with that heat on him and he knows the opps want him to lose so bad but he stay winning. He stay spinning to (the block that is). He got a big ass pool and he unwinds by smoking blunts and spending quality time with a bad bitty. He demands his respect and will never get finessed.
SCY Jimm - Vision Blurry: Big SCY shit! The QC artist dropped a new loosie this week. He was walking ‘round blind, his Vision was Blurry but now he seeing everything. He found the booth, now he straight and his momma don’t gotta worry. He’s striving to be the greatest and if you bet against him, you gonna lose.
Wizz Havin - New Wave: Florida man Wizz Havin dropped a new track this week. It's a groovy track. Wizz can’t feel his face and if them boys come for him, he might have to do the race. He gonna hit the streets as he has a few plays to run. He ain’t swag jacking nobody, he’s starting a New Wave.
