The Hit List week 106: (May 1 - May 7)
Conway the Machine, Goosebytheway & Drea D’Nur - Kanye: The Machine dropped a new project this week called “WON’T HE DO IT” (a common Baptist refrain about God). Super dope album. The track “Kanye” really hooked me as soon as it came on. The snap beat, the organs and the Gospel feel. Conway says “They even talked about Jesus” and describes people’s disbelief in him and how he overcame it all. Do yourself a favor and check out “WON’T HE DO IT” and these highlights:
Stab Out (with Ransom)
The Chosen (with Jae Skeese)
WON’T HE DO IT (with 7xvethegenius)
Cordae - The Water (Freestyle): Cordae dropped a loosie this week with a video featuring him in his girl’s home country of Japan. The beat dope as he describes not wanting to reach 50 and feel regrets. He’s getting checks from Puma but he knows he’s not rich enough to truly speak his mind. He doesn’t want to get publicly lynched like some of his contemporaries. He’s staying true to roots (big up Maryland). He’s battle tested and he’ll never fold in the war.
IDK - Still Your Man: IDK dropped a new album this week called “F65” featuring many of the tracks he’s dropped over the past year. The track that’ll get many people talking is the Saucy Santana track “Pinot Noir” (and I gotta admit, it’s a bit of a bop). My favorite track is “Still Your Man” which samples Carl Thomas’ smash hit “I Wish”. IDK talks up the superiority of being with a woman you have an actual connection with. The aligning of hearts and building a family. When you look in her eyes, and see she is different from the others, you know it’s special. He ain’t down with the nanny life either, he wants him and her to raise the kids themselves. He hopes that when and if the shit hits the fan, and times get rough, they won’t let any outside influences destroy their bond.
Snow Strippers ft. Lil Uzi Vert - It’s a Dream: Lil Uzi was featured on a track with EDM group Snow Strippers (great name if you ask me). It has a whimsical feel and that classic EDM sound. LUV describes a young woman that they may have been involved with (a white girl with a phatty). Uzi knows that life isn’t really what it seems. When you wake up, It’s just a Dream.
OhGeesy ft. Kalan Fr.Fr. - Saturday: Shoreline Mafia’s OhGeesy dropped “GEEZYWORLD 2” the sequel to his 2021 album. Dope project, full of those Bay Area bops that go crazy in the club and on the radio. I loved the tracks that dropped in the leadup, and Perky ft. Kamaiyah is a slap. I also have had the Kalan Fr.Fr. track “Saturday” on repeat. It has a bit of an ol’ skool bounce and finds Kalan explaining that girls like to party on Saturdays. All he wants to see is shawty arch her back and look back at it (Saturday or any other day). Geezy wonders if he’ll ever be faithful (one day). He likes his bitties with hella ass and he’s down to go slow or for a quickie. Other standouts from “GEEZYWORLD 2”:
Geekaleek (ft. Cash Kidd)
Tour Bus
Perky (ft. Kamaiyah)
1st Day of School
Chrome Hearted (ft. Tyga)
Games (ft. 03 Greedo & Bino Rideaux)

Desiigner - Timmy Turner 2: Desiigner has had a trying career. After blowing up with a smash single “Panda” he had to fight accusations of being a Future copycat. He had his hit song repurposed for Ye’s album “The Life of Pablo” and went through a public battle to release music then get off the label. And, recently he was arrested for masturbating on a commercial flight. He dropped a new track this week and it’s the sequel of a viral song of his (it was an acapella freestyle that blew up then he made a whole track). “Timmy Turner 2” opens with the outro of the original track, then transitions to vocals about fighting demons and being paranoid because you can’t trust anyone. Hopefully he gets the help he needs, and if he keeps making tracks like these he can definitely can rise again.
DaBaby - GHETTO GIRLS: Don’t call it a comeback! A saw DaBaby in the thumbnail for a recent episode of LeBron’s barbershop talk show “The Shop” and thought OK, mans must really be trying to make amends and they musta fully vetted him because they shelved a Ye episode last year because he went off the rails (allegedly). Like other artists who appear publicly after a long hiatus, he dropped a new EP this week called “CALL DA FIREMAN”. 3 tracks, my favorite was “GHETTO GIRLS>>>>” which samples the Big Tymers, Juvenile & Lil Wayne hit “Project Bitch” and has that signature Manny Fresh production. DaBaby made this anthem for the type of chicks he likes and I’ll say it again, if he makes music like this moving forward he’ll certainly be able to headline the big shows again.
Belly - Ambiance: Belly is gearing up to drop his new project “Mumble Rap 2” and he dropped off another loosie this week in the lead up. The beat is polished boom bap, Belly goes in and compares himself to Biggie and Pac combined. He remembers what broke smelled like, what desperate felt like, but now he’s hella up. He used to be on pills for the thrills but now he spends that money on the Ambiance.
Armani White ft. Fivio Foreign - BIG BET: Armani White is loading the clip for his major label debut so he dropped a new project called “The Road to CASABLANCO” as like a pre-project (kinda like Travis with “Days Before Rodeo”). It features all of the hit singles he’s dropped over the past year or so including “Billie Eilish” and “GOATED”. My favorite new track is “BIG BET” with Fivi. Also the track with Fridayy “PROUD OF ME.” slaps. Can’t wait for the album to drop.
Will.i.iam & Lil Wayne - THE FORMULA: The Black Eyed Pea and Weezy F linked for their first collab ever (according to the interwebs). And the theme is Formula 1 Racing. It has a Jersey Club bounce with some EDM elements. Weezy has some dope bars including calling himself Weezy F1 and a ketchup, catch up line (apropo for the racing theme).
Destroy Loney - new new: Emo-Rap artist Destroy Lonely dropped a new project this week called “If Looks Could Kill”. I really enjoyed it. My favorite track is “new new” where DL admits to sipping too much lean and not trusting the bitties. He just got a new crib and he hasn’t even slept in it yet. Niggas still rocking old shit and watching his old moves but he’s on that new new. Check out “If Looks Could Kill” and these standouts:

Marshmello & Brent Faiyaz - Fell In Love: Marshmello may be gearing up to drop an album soon. He already dropped a collab with Polo G and Southside recently and now he’s back with a Brent Faiyaz collab. “Fell In Love” is a smooth track with some electronic bounce. Brent been moving around and he lets his main damie know that she ain’t fall in love with him, she fell in love with the man he can be. He’s trying to grow into the man he can be and is willing to wine & dine her but is also setting the expectations. He doesn’t wanna gas her up for a let down.
Albee Al - TRUST ISSUES: Jersey’s own Albee Al dropped a new project this week called “I’M FROM MARION”. He was recently released from prison and this is his 2nd post-penitentiary drop. My favorite track is “TRUST ISSUES” which has a snap beat and finds Al paranoid and looking over his shoulder. He prays and asks God to watch over him but he still carries the whistle just in case the opps wanna get froggy. He heard rumors he was finished, but he’s committed and he’ll never stop grinding.
SleazyWorldGo ft. Polo G - Off The Court: The man known for his viral hit Sleazy Flow just dropped off a new loosie and got Polo G to bless it with a verse. The main message? Them and they homies shooting shit on and off the court (like Ja Morant). If they get the lo, they pulling up and spinning the block like Ring Around The Rosie.
Omarion & Riley Lanezz - Bs: Big O dropped a new album this week called “Full Circle: Sonic Book 1” and it’s Top Tier R&B. There’s some radio ready Pop-R&B bops and some traditional R&B ballads. Top to bottom it’s a great project and my favorite track is BS with Riley Lanez. Classic R&B duet, Omarion hates the late nights driving home, thinking about shorty. It’s been way too much of his own bullshit. It’s always a vibe with her but he gotta leave her alone. Riley is down to run it back. She knows these things take time and she wants to do it like they used to.
SpotemGotem - I Just Might: SpotemGotem dropped a new loosie this week. The beat is super funky and has a Detroit-Type Beat vibe. SG likes bad bitties, popping pills, and loaded g-locks. If he told a shawty he loved her, he was high and he didn’t mean it. He don’t want the buns, just the top. He’s chilling but he just might go cop a Lambo.
Bandgang Lonnie - Elite: Lonnie is becoming one of my 2023 favorites. After dropping “Can’t Ban The Bandman 2” earlier this year he dropped the Deluxe this week. I love the “Shhh” track and the track “Elite” is special. Lonnie had doubters, haters, and disbelievers. He overcame the obstacles, ran them bands up, and proved that he’s Elite. I’ve had this on repeat since it dropped just like I’ve had “Blow Fish” on repeat from the original album drop.
JELEEL - THOR!: Rock-Rapper Jeleel dropped a new project this week called “REAL RAW!”. My favorite track “THOR!” has a triumphant sound and will definitely get you hyped. Same shit, gang shit, Jeleel been solid and locked in. Ain’t nothing change but his pockets and options.
