The Hit List: #134 (November 13 - November 19)
Lil Wayne & 2Chainz - Millions From Now: Wayne & Tit dropped the sequel to their collab project, this one called “Welcome 2 Collegrove”. They got 50 to narrate and I thoroughly enjoyed the project (it was long as hell but full of gas). My favorite track is “Millions From Now” and I immediately added it to my playlist. The theme of the track is ‘right now is a moment, and you’ll forget all about it in the future so don’t get caught up in the moment”. For Tune and Tit, they’ll be Millions up and today's problems will be a speck tomorrow.
Drake - You Broke My Heart: Alright so the boy dropped the Deluxe to For All The Dogs and he launched the Deluxe tracks as Scary Hours 3 (which traditionally has been an EP of loosies that usually don’t appear on his full length projects). This time it was different, he had something to prove. And even though on one track he spits that he doesn't rap like he used to because he doesn’t know how (he’s evolved) he got into his braggadocious bag and his Hurt Drake bag on this. I kinda wanna go to a show just to yell “Fuck My Ex” with everyone in there because this one is gonna slap live.
Tory Lanez - Wilona’s Workshop: T Lanez dropped the much anticipated “Alone at Prom” Deluxe and it’s gas. The project didn’t get anywhere near the credibility that it should have due to his legal troubles and departure from a major label. The way Bruno Mars reinvigorated the classic Funk sound, Tory did the same with 80’s Pop/R&B. “Wilona’s Workshop” is easily my favorite Deluxe track and it sounds like early New Edition, and it has that 80’s bop to it. Check out “Alone At Prom (Deluxe)” and especially this track.
D30 - its Lil 30: Florida’s D30 dropped a new album this week called “Trappers & Scammers”. This track was featured on the Apple Music New music playlist as a standout and they got it absolutely right. This one stands out as the most introspective track with the best beat. The guitar strings really sauce it up. He raps about coming up from the gutter and now having motion. He still believes in Love and Loyalty and just because he elevated, doesn’t mean he forgot about anything.
Kuttem Reese - TYFNB: Staying in FLA, Kuttem Reese dropped a new album this week called “Reese”. Dope project, this track is about remembering when nobody believed in him. Now it’s cameras and flashes when they see him now. He uses this track to say thank you to those that stayed down. He forgives those that switched up on him too. It has a country feel with the acoustic guitar and no drums on the hook.
Jay Rock ft. BongoByTheWay - Still That Way: J Rizzy dropped a new bop with producer BongoByTheWay. It’s triumphant, with hella horns, like his most popular track “Win”. He raps about how he came a long way. It’s still that way, broad day, he’ll drill all day.
E-40 & LaRussell - Water: E-Feezy dropped a new project this week called “Rule of Thumb: Rule 1” and it’s a certified slapper. From the features to the samples, the OG was all the way in his bag. This LaRussell collab is super duper catchy. “Is that 40? Water! With the crib by the… Water! With the chain made of… Water!” Vallejo niggas cold and they drop gems including buying land to build wealth and avoiding debt. You gotta speak your money into existence and take action to make it happen. Do yourself a favor and check out “Rule of Thumb: Rule 1” and these highlights:
Lift It
GPS (with Larry Jine & Clyde Carson)
High-End (with Philthy Rich, Gucci Mane & B.G.)
Show You How To Do It (with O.T. Genasis, Zoe Osama & G5)
Get My Life Right (with NBA Youngboy)
Lovin Somebody (with Otis)
Ari Lennox - Get Close: Ari is back with a new Grown & Sexy track. It’s downtempo and soulful with live drums and strings as Ari asks her boo thang to Get Close. She needs him close, so close. She wanna be the little spoon to his big spoon, boobies grabbin. They can even go on a road trip and when they get there they're gonna snuggle up.
Rucci - Tryna Fuck: I love when I become consciously aware of some artists. I’ve had Rucci on my playlists for years but they were loosies and I never really listened to an entire project. This year changed that and there are some tracks from him like “Popular Loner” that will never leave rotation. He dropped a new project this week called “Say It Aint So” and it’s flames. “Tryna Fuck” is one of my favorites and the title tells it all, mans tryna get some ass. The track samples Juvenile’s classic “Back That Azz Up” and he encourages the bitties to go dumb on the dick, back it up like it's ‘99. Check out “Say It Aint So” and these standouts:
Out Tha Way
That’s Norf, Pt. 3 (ft. Baby Stone Gorillas, Gudda Brvckin & ShyBelligerent)
This That Rucci Interlude
Needed Someone
Emotional Oranges & Nonso Amadi - Nowhere: EO linked with Nigerian Singer Nonso Amadi for this tune. They promise that special someone that they ain’t going Nowhere. The stars are falling, the moon’s exploding but they ain’t going Nowhere. Hurricanes, bad days, the world burning, none of that can make them leave.
Allstar JR - Keith Lee: Get A Bag Records's Allstar JR dropped a new project this week called “They Found Me Like This” and it’s full of bops. The project has that Detroit Player, New Bay Area bounce. My favorite track is this homage to the internet sensation, MMA fighter, and Food Reviewer, Keith Lee. AJR compares himself to Keith the way he’s in and out them food spots. His food spots serve a different kind of food (iykyk).
Boldy James & Nicholas Craven - Brand New Chanel Kicks: Boldly James was in a horrific accident earlier this year and was in critical condition. He references that ordeal on this track (including the report that he broke bones in his neck and was paralyzed). He regained his ability to walk and never lost the bars. Him and Nicholas Craven cooked up an A1 collab project last year and it seems like they might be rolling out a sequel.
41, Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter & Tata - Run That!: A new project was featured on the Apple Music playlist called “41 World: Not The Album” with all these artists. I previously heard their flip of Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat” and gave this a listen. It’s filled with NJ Club & NY Drill bangers including Run That! Which is a flip of the MOP smash “Ante Up”. It’s an upbeat bass-heavy drill anthem. Whether you’re spinning the block on the opps or going to smash the big booty thooties. This one’s for you.
Lah Pat ft. That Mexican OT - Oversteppin: Lah Pat set the world ablaze with his re-rock of Ginuwine’s “Pony” into “Rodeo” especially when he got Flo Milli on the remix. He’s back with a new track and he got Texas sensation That Mexican OT to bless this track. This one’s for the ladies. The guys don’t wanna overstep shawty’s boundaries. She’s bad and they want her. They be flexing and they let the opps know not to reach for their necklace. OT’s unique flow (the way he trills words) puts a special stamp on this one.
Lil Durk & Only The Family - Hood Said: Smirk dropped a new project with his Only The Family crew called “Nightmares In The Trenches”. The song with Chief Wuk slaps. My favorite track is “Hood Said” as Durk gets in his storytelling bag and talks about breaking his fast during Ramadan with a blunt. He raps about Von and having to look after his family now. It’s been a long time since he cried and if you lived the life he lived you would have given up. He knows friends can turn on you so he stays on his toes. It’s introspective, he uses bars and melodies and you can feel his pain through the track.
DJ Premier ft. Common - In Moe (Speculation): Preme cooked up this beat that is vintage Preme and God MC Common came through and provided some top tier bars. He raps about his life journey. Dating the ladies, becoming an actor. He raps about the Chi and mentions Black Panther legend Chairman Fred and Civil Rights legend Medgar Evers. It’s a mellow bop but every bar hits hard.
BEO Lil Kenny & DJ Drama - King Rd: DJ Drama dropped a Gangsta Grillz tape with Memphis’ BEO Lil Kenny called “1 Foot In 1 Foot Out” (BEO must be like the Blood version of a CEO). Dope project, this “King Rd” track really made me perk up. It starts with a sound bite by Boosie then has BLK rap about the famous Memphis Street. He doing whatever he gotta do so his family can eat. He was knee deep in the mud, it was never sweet. He gonna make sure his mama good and dodge 12 at all times.
NLE Choppa, Aarne, Imanbek - Ice: NLE dropped a new collab track with Arne and Imanbek (who I know from his remix of Saint Jhn’s “Roses”). Ice is about that jewelry, Ice gives them life, with Ice they can live their life. From their teeth, to their neck, their diamonds are the finest quality and shine in the light. And they attract all the womens.
Trent The Hooligan - GODSMiLEZ!: Trent The Hooligan dropped a new album this week called “91OCTANE!” that was featured on the Apple Music New Releases. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of music throughout the whole project (I was jammin). On GODSMiLEZ! he raps about growing up from being a lil boy bumping Method Man to drinking Hard Liquor at night and Kombucha in the morning. He’s from North Carolina (the mud literally). Hicks, fratboys, gangbangers, and they all got guns. There’s levels to this shit and he’s on a mission to the millions. Tough Tune.
Sada Baby - Us or Nothing: Skuba Steve dropped a new project this week called “SkuBop”. My favorite track “Us or Nothing” has Mr. Shonuff telling the opps that he will up the yopper if they wanna take it there. Niggas be moving weird and he don’t move weird. He rather do shit with his squad and he don’t move by himself.
Sky Tower Click ft. Kokane - Came A Long Way: Another week, another great find on the Apple Music New Hip-Hop playlist. This week it comes from Sky Tower Click who dropped a new project called “Came A Long Way”, and also Kokane who I know from his collabs with Snoop and Jake Steed (iykyk). It’s about the journey. They came from the bottom, Moms was on drugs, and they survived all the struggles, made it to the top and they ain’t going back.
Paxquiao & Sy Ari Da Kid - Is It Over: P and Sy dropped a Deluxe to their collab album “Northside Dreams, Southside Nightmares” this week with 3 new tracks. Their track “Bad Advice” that dropped last week was a sign of great things to come and one of the other deluxe tracks “Is It Over” captures the essence of relationship turmoil, the uncertainty. Are we done or nah? Usually when this question pops up, someone doesn’t want it to end. Sometimes you can rekindle the flame, other times not so much.
Aitch & Cordae - Flame On: UK spitter Aitch dropped a new project this week called “Lost Files”. He’s been incredibly consistent with the quality of his output and this project is no different (even if the title gives throwaway vibes). This Cordae track is an undeniable highlight. I had the album playing and when this came on I said “wait a minute” hopped up to check which track this was. This one is special.
Queen Naija - Self Love: Viral Youtube sensation and R&B songstress Queen Naija dropped a new album this week called “After The Butterflies”. If you’re a fan you’ll like this one. I loved the song about Self-Love. Not only does it promote one of the most important types of love (and what should be a precursor to every functional relationship) but she also flipped Tamia’s “Officially Loving You” for this one.
Terrace Martin & Gallant - Yellowjacket: Terrace Martin dropped 2 new projects this week. “The Near North Side” is an instrumental collab album with Calvin Keys. He also dropped another collab album with singer Gallant called “Sneek”. I love “Sneek” and especially “Yellow Jacket” (which probably doesn’t refer to the wasp cousin or the NFL Hall of Fame coat). It’s the opening track and it’s funky, jazzy (It’s T Martin what do you expect) and a bit clubby, and it has Gallant singing about facing your fears, deep in the night, waiting for shawty to make up her mind. While she’s deciding, he’s going to be standing right there. He ain’t going nowhere.
October London - A Baby From My Baby: Death Row artist October London dropped a new holiday themed album called “The Greatest Gift”. He’s exceptionally talented and I love how he can sing about just anything and make it soulful (from raunchy to romantic). “A Baby From My Baby” is about him shooting the club up raw. All his boo wants for Christmas is to make a Baby with his Baby and there’s only one way to do that: Mix some Eggnog with some bourbon then go to Pound Town. Check out “The Greatest Gift” and these highlights:
Every Kiss Begins With K
Rudolph Don’t Fail Me
Kembe X ft. Isaiah Rashad & Hippie Sabotage - Rolling Stoned: I’ve been listening to Kembe X tracks for years and this week he dropped a new loosie with TDE’s Isaiah Rashad and Hippie Sabotage. It has a wavy vibe and a pinch of Rock & Roll. They rap about rolling the marijuana and lighting it up. Love is dangerous so they’re careful with their hearts. They be leaving puddles in the bed when they put it down. Voices used to say they won’t be nothing, but now they’re up, and their success is undeniable.
John Concepcion - Keep In Touch: I found this new project “Is It Too Late?” by John Concepcion in the New Release playlist in the R&B section of Apple Music. I gave it a listen and from track one I was hooked. My favorite track is “Keep In Touch”. JC hopes it’s not too late. He knows he made a mistake by letting shawty slip away. He knows his only hope for now is to Keep In Touch but he’s hoping they can mend broken fences. Other standouts from “Is It Too Late?”.
Night & Day
Get Ready
MannyWellz - Be Alright: “Mr. Oúlala” is another project I found in the New Release playlist in the R&B section of Apple Music. He got two Pink Sweat collabs to kick it off (fire) and this anthem to get you out of a funk was completely in my bag. It’s over an acoustic guitar, he reminds us to keep our faith in the most high and assures us that no matter how bad it seems, it’s gonna Be Alright.

42 Dugg - SpinDatBac
Luh Tyler & Skilla Baby - OK Bet Pt. 2
