The Hit List: week 135 (November 20 - November 26)
Fetty Wap - Slide: Free Fetty! Zoovier dropped a new album this week called “King Zoo” his first since 2015. It’s packed with smooth bops including his viral hit (and re-rock of the Masego track) “Sweet Yamz”. My favorite album cut “Slide” has prominent guitar strings that give it a mellow vibe. He raps to his baddest bittie. Her throat game is fire and he just wants her to Slide through. He also keeps extra guns just incase he has to Slide on the opps Check out “King Zoo” and these highlights:
Urus Pt. 2
Private Party
1738 (ft. Coi Leray)
Departure
Sweet Yamz
Icewear Vezzo, PBE Pluto & Matteo Johnson - In My Bag: So apparently this track came out a year ago but this week a new version was released with PBE Pluto. I don’t give a damn when it came out, like Vezzo says on the track “It’s a Masterpiece”. I immediately added it to the playlist and it’ll be in heavy rotation for a minute.
Trippie Redd - #RBDG: So the Ohio native dropped a 7 track project a week or 2 ago but this week he dropped a V2 with 10 additional tracks. Now I don’t know how good you are at math but that’s more tracks than the original, so while it feels like a Deluxe, it almost seems like he rolled the project out in 2 waves. Nonetheless my favorite of the new tracks is #RBDG which does not stand for Ruth Bay Der Gingsburg. The beat has a NY Drill hi-hat loop but also samples Ready For The World’s “Let Me Love You Down”. He sings to his bae and tells her “let’s go” and also asks “What’s the plan”. He’s tryna pop perks in Turks and wants to beat cheeks. He don’t pull out either, he wants to be her Rich Baby Daddy (which explains the RBD but not the G… maybe Gang?)
Gucci Mane ft. B.G. & Mike WILL Made-It - Cold: Gucci Mane La Flare linked up with recently released New Orleans legend BG and super producer Mike Will for a new loosie. The beat is bouncy as Gizzle and Wop rap about the cold nights in that cold cell. They left that behind and the only thing cold now is their ice.
Philthy Rich & Bfb Da Packman - Trust The Process: Bay Area heavyweight Philthy Rich dropped a new album this week called “King of Oakland” I still have his track “Make A Living” in heavy rotation and there’s some certified slappers on this new album. My favorite track is with the fat & funny Bfb Da Packman. The beat is a vibe as Packman raps about getting topped off and stacking cake. He screams free Joe Exotic and doubles down on his desire to smash Lizzo. Philthy tells his bitties they gotta Trust The Process. Niggas be mad at him like he the one that changed (he didn’t). Check out “King of Oakland” and these standouts:
Living Wrong (with Big Sad 1900, Killa Fonte & Blueflag 1900)
Long Time Coming (with Yella Beezy, Trapboy Freddy & YOUNG JR)
Fake Opps (with YN Jay, Louie Ray & Skinny T)
4 AM IN DECEMBER (with Sauce Walka, JUST BANG & Rizzo Rizzo)
King of Oakland (Remix) (with J. Stalin & Mistah F.A.B.)
Chow Lee - ready 2 live: I first heard Chow Lee when he was featured on the last Sleepy Hallow project. When I saw he had a new loosie that dropped I had to give it a listen and it didn’t disappoint. It’s introspective, and he confesses to living his life like he’s ready to die. His dogs out here wildin’ and he be trying to tell them chill out. He used to smash the bops in a basement but now he’s in the penthouse.
Kamaiyah ft. 03 Greedo - Whole Lotta M’s: The Bay Area Queen dropped a new album called “Another Summer Night” and it’s straight gas. “Raining Game in California” and “Every Friday” have been in heavy rotation along with this collab with 03 Greedo “Whole Lotta M’s”. It’s clear from the title that it’s about getting that guap and both artists do just that in abundance. Do yourself a favor and check out “Another Summer Night” and these highlights:
Raining Game in California (ft. Jay Worthy)
Take A Sip (ft. Hott Boy Zay)
Every Friday
Going Thru Shit
Luh Tyler - Change My Wayz: Florida Man Luh Tyler dropped a new smooth track this week. He raps about when times was hard and now it's better days. He’s stacking his paper like Legos and he keeps it in the safe. He sends encouragement to the bros and he got nothing but pipe for the hoes. He Changed His Ways and now he up up.
Che Ecru - Psychic: I’ve had Che Ecru in the Serrato for some years now. He dropped a new project this week called “I CANT FOCUS” and it’s a vibe. “Peppermint” is my favorite track (it dropped a couple weeks ago) and my favorite album cut is “Psychic”. He uses a melodic flow to sing to his bae. At points on the track, he lets the beat orchestrate the vibe then he tells shawty to do it like that and let them cheeks get to bouncing. Then it closes with those deep distorted vocals (you know the one I’m talking about). Other standouts from “I CANT FOCUS”:
Peppermint
Feel Dumb
Kanye ft. Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk & Bump J - Vultures: So Ye and Ty are supposed to be dropping an album. It was supposed to come out then it was postponed but now the first track dropped. It features 3 Chicago artists and Dolla Sign and it has that new Chi-Town sound. Ye delivers some memorable lines including the reason he can’t be anti semitic. If this is the vibe of this project, I can’t wait to hear it.
J. Stone - I’ll Be Hood: Cali OG J. Stone dropped a new album this week called “The Definition of Success” and it’s a bona fide banger. The features are crazy and every track slaps. The first track that caught my ear was this flip of “I’ll Be Good” and it has J rapping about flipping packs and beating cheeks. He keeps it hood even over a classic R&B beat. Check out “The Definition of Success” and these standouts:
Respectfully
Foundation (with Hit-Boy ft. Nipsey Hussle)
She Wanna Ride (ft. Garren)
Hamptons (ft. DOM KENNEDY)
Levels (ft. Bun B & Trae Tha Truth)
Busta Rhymes ft. Blxst & Yung Bleu - COULD IT BE YOU: Busta Bust dropped a new feature-packed project called “BLOCKBUSTA”. Dope project, I loved all the samples he used (it gives it a level of familiarity). My favorite track is “Could It Be You: featuring Blxst & Bleu (so you know it has some soul). They dedicate their verses to a prospective partner as they contemplate a union. Check out “BlockBusta” and these highlights:
REMIND EM (ft. Quavo)
BEACH BALL (ft. BIA)
BIG EVERYTHING (ft. DaBaby & T-Pain)
STAND UP (ft. JNR CHOI)
Tink - 40x: Chicago’s Tink dropped a new track and it’s special. She sings her heart out to a nigga that broke her heart. She wonders how they turned into enemies and if it was real at all. It’s been 40 Days since he’s heard from her and 40 Nights since she’s slept good (I think this was the same length of time it rained on Noah and nem in the bible) and she’s heard 40 lies 40 different times (hence the title 40x).
Towkio - Tryin To Get Rich: Stayin in the Chi, Save Money alum Towkio dropped a new project called “Community Service 3!!!” and I enjoyed it. My favorite track is the aspirational “Tryin To Get Rich”. Big Tow expresses his desire to get the guap in large amounts (like 50, Get Rich or Die Trying). Many men wish death upon him but he’s gonna get to the bag regardless. Other standouts from “Community Service 3!!!”:
Dyin Livin
Xanex
Movie Star (ft. Kami)
CJ Fly & Stoic ft. Mick Jenkins & Amarah - SANGRE / AGUA: Barsmith CJ Fly dropped a new project with producer Stoic called “PIRANHA”. My favorite track is called “SANGRE / AGUA” with Chicago’s Mick Jenkins. The beat is super funky and it’s about how a shawty can smell the Blood (Sangre) in the Water (Agua) and she likes that. She’s like the album title (a Piranha) and the guys promise if she bites, they bite back. Other highlights from “PIRANHA”:
PIRANHA
LOVE ME 4 ME (ft. Blvck Swvm)
QUASIMODO
Blisofly - Don’t It Feel great: Another week, another great find on the Apple Music New Music Playlist. This week it’s the album “Revenge Era” from Blisofly. This track “Don’t It Feel Great” has that classic Drake sound. He talks about grinding and doing it for his future family. It feels great when that money come, and when shawty loving on him. He ain’t from the streets but he know niggas who live by the gun. If it ain’t about the money, he’ll see you later.
RAAHiiM - All About The Benjamins: R&B singer RAAHiim dropped a Deluxe to his most recent project “BUT IF iiM HONEST” My favorite track “All About The Benjamins” is funky funky and it reminds me of Childish Gambino’s “Redbone”. He sings to his bae and vows to spend all his dough on her, All The Benji’s are for her.
M1OnTheBeat & Headie One - Skinfade: UK Super producer M1OnTheBeat dropped a new project this week called “M1onTheBeat The Mixtape”. Super dope project, I’ve been following him since Drake was featured on a track he produced with Headie One “Headie Freestyle”. The album is special, the Digga D track is one of them ones. And this “Skinfade” track made me roll all the windows down, drop the sunroof and turn it all the way up. Check out “M1onTheBeat The Mixtape” and these highlights:
Mexico (with Digga D)
I Pray (with Abra Cadabra)
Hear No Evil, See No Evil (with Kojey Radical & Knucks ft. Miraa May)
Other Tracks/Projects That Dropped This Week
Conway The Machine - Cosca
Wiz Khalifa - Up The Ladder
Omarion - The Usual
