The Hit List: #148 (February 19 - February 25)
1TakeJay - Pick Me: 1TakeJay dropped a phenomenal album this week called “Something 4 Your Bitch”. Full of bops and super dope samples, it’s in the Valentine’s day spirit but it’s also flagrant and sometimes hilarious (a signature of 1TJ raps). “Pick Me” features an intro from Katt Williams and Jay raps about a lil bih name Sidney who was fake picky. She let him fuck because her nickname is Pick Me. The beat crazy and bars include mouth full of glizzy (Sidney) and mouth full of titties (Jay). Check out “Something 4 Your Bitch” and these highlights:
H Town
Tatt 1Take (ft. 1TakeQuan & 1TakeTeezy) That’s How I’m Coming
Central Cee - I Will: Double C dropped a new loosie in the spirit of V-Day and I instantly added it to the Serrato. He promises a special someone that if she gets dressed to go out, looking to get taken down, then he’s willing to step up to the plate if no one else will. He’ll fly her all around the world and buy everything her heart desires. He uses a melodic flow on the hook and silky smooth bars on the verses. The beat is super duper crazy too.
Kid Cudi ft. Wiz Khalifa - DIAMONDS LIGHTS FAST CARS: Cudders dropped what a deluxe (of sorts) to his most recent album “INSANO” this version called “NITRO MEGA”. This edition has none of the tracks from the original. It has some new tracks that didn’t make the cut but also some tracks from years ago. I love this project. It sounds like Cudi was in the stu having fun, letting loose. My favorite track is this collab with Wiz and their vibes fit together so cohesively (two not so lonely stoners) and this one will be in rotation for a hot minute. Check out “INSANO (NITRO MEGA)”: and these standouts:
CHUNKY
BABE AND I
ELECTROWAVE BABY 2.0
SUPERBOY
Maino ft. Young Thug - Poetry: This song is a certified bop and it must have been done years ago (because Jeffrey is in the video and he’s been locked up for 2+ years now). Thugger handles the heavy lifting on the track with the hook and 2 verses. Free Slime.
Dave East & Scram Jones - SUPER HERO: Dave and Scram dropped a collab album this week called “For The Love”. Dope project, it sticks to the Valentine’s Day theme and I loved the samples and interpolations they used. My favorite is the opening track “SUPER HERO” which samples Nas and Quan’s hood classic “Just a Moment”. He gives thanks to everyone from his bros, to the hoes, to the aki’s that made him sandwiches. It’s a gratitude song.
Smino - mister misfit but ain’t missed a fit in months: First of all this title is a mouthful (pause, unpause) but the track is top tier. Smino’s unique voice makes every track he’s on special and he really goes in and talks his shit on this one. He’s dripped out in designer (hence the title) and he’s getting so much dome his balls are drier than the Kalahari (life doesn’t get much better than rich shit and empty nuts).
Chezi & Quake Beatz ft. Kool John - City Riches: I love finding artists I’m not familiar with on Apple Music’s New Releases. This week it was a collab EP from Chezi and Quake Beatz called “Gotham City”. I looked at the track list and saw some Bay Area heavyweights so I had to give it a listen. It did not disappoint and this track with Kool John got immediately added to the playlist (and sounded great in the whip).
Kodak Black - Shampoo: Yak was recently released from jail and to celebrate he dropped a new loosie. The beat is hypnotic and he promotes his Yak Sauce at the beginning. He uses an uptempo delivery to ride the beat and proclaim that he got the sauce like his condiment. Guerilla video shoot (looks shot on an iphone) partially while Kodak was at a Padres game.
Yowda ft. Maxo King - Found Someone: Vegas spitter and MMG signee Yowda dropped a new project this week called BLV (Bad Lil Vibe) - Ladies Edition. Dope project, obviously something to get the panties wet. My favorite track “Found Someone” has an acoustic beat and the vocals of Maxo King. Maxo sings to the only one he’s head over heels for. He knows it’ll make his other bitties mad, but he don’t wanna be a player no more. He Found Someone he finally wants to live for. Yowda provides the bars, gets in his storytelling bag, and keeps it all the way real.
French Montana - Other Side: French dropped the 5th edition of his Mac & Cheese series this week. It’s star studded with everyone from Ye to Ross to Weezy & more. My favorite track “Other Side” has no features but it has a snap beat (and snap beats are almost undefeated). He raps to his main ting. He’s putting her first, giving her the Princess Treatment, and he just wants to see the Other Side of her (the side everyone else doesn’t get to see). It also features an intro from the soul classic “Very Special” and a hilarious outro with a gangsta talking about a rainbow and his gold diggin baby mama. Other highlights from “Mac & Cheese 5”:
Talk To Me
Splash Brothers (with Rick Ross & Lil Wayne)
Praise God (with JID)
Goals (with Jeremih)
Nu Sace - Raw: I came across this track just browsing and it got immediately added to the Serrato. It’s one of those drill love songs and Nu Sace uses a melodic flow to let one his bitties know that he’s thinking bout going in Raw. I think he should go in Raw, and he shouldn’t pull out. Be a man.
Casey Veggies & Dylvinci - Prada Tags: Veggies dropped a new project this week called “Nostalgia” with a throwback sound (hence the title). “Prada Tags” is a standout and has an 80’s R&B feel and Young Veggies raps about going from the bottom to now popping Prada Tags. He’s driving foreigns and smashing bad chicks named Jasmine who make him breakfast without asking.
Erick The Architect - The Neue Muse: After a well executed rollout, Flatbush Zombie Erick The Architect dropped a new album this week called “I’ve Never Been Here Before”. Dope project, one of the leadup singles “Ambrosia” is my favorite track. My favorite album cut is “Neue Muse” which has a funky beat and finds E rapping to that special someone. It ain’t nothing to a real nigga, she don’t need the world, she need a a nigga that’ll treat her different (and he wants to be that somebody).
RJMrLA ft. Ty Dolla $ign - High Value: RJ dropped a new project this week called “The Bitch Tape” sticking to the Valentine’s Day theme of many tracks on this week’s and last week’s list. This track with Ty Dolla is a highlight. It interpolates the Jodeci classic “Freek N You” and the guys sing to a High Value woman. They finna drop they thots for a Rich Bitch. She eats nothing but the finest cuisines and all her jewelry is flawless. They appreciate how she showers them with love and expensive gifts. Other standouts from “The Bitch Tape”:
Sister Wives

Babytron - Grab Yo Skates: BabyTron dropped a new project this week called “Case Dismissed”. It’s filled with his signature sound and “Grab Yo Skates” is an excellent example of when a great beat meets the right flow. It’s an uptempo Detroit-type beat (that sounds like it interpolates “Ring My Bell”). Tron uses a turbo flow to rap about taking shrooms and his icy jewelry. And per usual he gets in a basketball bar or two.
Stunna 4 Vegas ft. Woodboy Gee - Doin A Dance: Stunna dropped a new album this week called “4Ever”. This track with Woodboy Gee is a thumper. The haunting beat pauses as 4 times claps his enemies (like a couple of hands). He busts on his opps without thinking (pause).
Ka$hdami - Ruby: Ka$hdami dropped a new project this week called “oasis”. My favorite track “Ruby” is super catchy and finds KD smashing a white chick with a big ole booty named Ruby (at least that’s what he thinks her name is).
Uncle Murda ft. Conway - The Projects: Uncle Murda dropped a new album this week called “Lenny Grant Story”. Like his yearly rap-up, it’s flagrant and sometimes laugh out loud funny. He got features from 2 of the Griselda brothers and this track with Conway is my favorite track on the album. It’s gangsta music, it interpolates “Affirmative Action” from Nas’ seminal classic “It Was Written” and Con and Murda both murder the beat. Check out “Lenny Grant Story” and these standouts:
Money (with Jadakiss)
No Safety (ft. Benny The Butcher)
Spin The Block (ft. Styles P & 50 Cent)
NBA YoungBoy - No Time: YB dropped a couple tracks this week and I like “No Time” the best. It’s introspective, melodic YoungBoy and has a choir loop in the background as supporting vocals. He also spits a Makonnen bar and has him in the video too.
Big Boogie & DJ Drama - Wizard: Big dude dropped a Gangsta Grillz tape with DJ Drama this week called “Red Rum Wizard”. Dope project, the “Wizard” track got immediately added to the playlist. He drops gems (like watch out for gold diggers) and proclaims his music is only for real niggas and bitches. The hook is super catchy and the way he harmonizes the lyrics will have this shit playing in your head over and over.
