The Hit List: week 160 (May 13 - May 19)
ShooterGang Kony ft. ShooterGang VJ and ShooterGang Fleecy - Red Flag: New Album “OPPS CAN’T HAVE FUN” West Coast Bops. “Red Flag” has the best beat on the album and Kony gets assists from the SG crew. Highlights:
Retro Kony
Write It Down, Take a Picture
Kamaiyah - Link Wit Me: New Album “Figuring Out My Emotions” Melodic flows and Bars. This one has ‘Maiyah spitting slick bars to one of her vibes. That’s her lil yeah, yeah.
Rio Da Yung OG - Warm Up: New Album “Circa 2020”. Opening track “Warm Up” sets the tone. Detroit beats and flows throughout.
Lil Dre60 - Blank: New Album “Supreme Blank”. This track samples Miguel’s hit “Adorn” and flips it into a Florida Drill track.
Lil Rae ft. Lil Rez & YC Lilkenta - Let Me Off the Band: New Album “Diablo vs Lil Rae” Still bumping “So Many Chains” that dropped in the lead up. This one samples Gotye’s smash hit “Somebody That I Used To Know” and Rae, Rez & Kenta slid.
Vanilla is Black & Gaby Duran - The Mothership: New Album “U.Aint.Neva.Lied” Super duper funky. Got this on repeat.
Rapsody ft. Bee-B - DND (Not Personal): New Album “Please Don’t Cry”. Deep thoughts and sophisticated bars. “DND” struck a chord with me (and it wasn't Ay Miner). For when you feeling like fuck everybody and you just wanna be left alone. Album Standouts:
God’s Light
Faith
Mark Battles - Shai Gilly: New Album “Do Not Disturb” (great transition from the track above). “Shai Gilly” is a certified bop. Track titled after the NBA Superstar (who should have won MVP). Like Shai, Mark doesn't miss. The soul sample is the special sauce.
