The Hit List Week 27: (Oct 25 - Oct 31)
Big Sean ft. Bryson Tiller & Lil Durk - Loyal To a Fault: Sean Don and Hit-Boy linked for an EP called “What You Expect” and it packs a punch in a small package. “Loyal To a Fault” stands out for its A-list features and one of the best beats on the project. On “Loyal To a Fault” The guys describe the type of ladies they mess with and how their kindness won’t be taken for weakness. Durk dominates, he mentions Future & Pippen, and finds a bar to shout out his shawty (this makes like 3 songs in a row) and brags that no industry dude been with her. Queen! Bryson spits the last verse showing off his range. Singer got bars too.
Kid Cudi & JAY-Z: Guns Go Bang: This one is featured on the soundtrack for the new Netflix Negro Western flick “The Harder They Fall”. Featuring Cudders and Hov (who I think is an Executive Producer of the film since dog made an Insta and posted the movie poster). This shit is a bop, it has the feel of a song that will be played during an action sequence in the film or a montage. It has that film score sound, triumphant with Cudi harmonizing and Hov shitting a polished verse right in the middle. Tough Tune!
IDK ft. Shy Glizzy - 2 Cents (extended version): Earlier this year IDK released a dark horse candidate for album of the year “USEE4YOURSELF” I loved it when it dropped and many industry critics feel the same. This week he released a Deluxe with a bunch of new tracks and hella features including Trippie Redd, JID, SiR, Royce Da 5’9” and more. On “2 Cents” he gets an assist from DC’s own Shy Glizzy (who is in fact not shy with the glizzy). This song was released last year but he got SG to add a verse and here we are.
BabyTron ft. Lil Yachty - Turtle Pie: I first heard BabyTron when he was featured on “Dead Artist”, a track from ShooterGang Kony’s StarShooter album that dropped about a month ago. That song is one of my favorite songs this year and when this BabyTron mixtape “Bin Reaper 2” dropped this week I had to give it a spin. Shit is fire top to bottom and the dopest part is that BT has a plethora of beats he murders. From Harry Potter and Star Wars samples to an old school JJ Fad “Supersonic” sample and a George Benson “Give Me The Night” sample (say what!?) he blazes every beat. On “Turtle Pie” the Detroit artist gets a feature from Lil Yachty (another D to the A connection, Detroit really fuck wit Atlanta), it’s a Detroit-type beat carried by keys and BT and Lil Boat got back and forth over the chorus-less track. Check out these other highlights from “Bin Reaper 2”:
Half-Blood Prince
Superstar
Green Lantern
Everybody Hates Tron
Sith Lord
T-Pain - I’m Cool With That: The return of Teddy Pain continues! The Tallahassee Legend is back with another tune for your headtop. This one’s about not being an insecure partner. Being ok with your shawty going out, kicking it with her girls, not trying to go through her phone and shit, all on a track that has Pain’s signature sound. The king is back!
Amaal - Too Good: Canadian songstress Amaal released a project this week called “Milly” and it’s R&B at its finest. On “Too Good” she put her mans on notice, reminds him that she taught him everything he knows so he better not go start acting brand new. She just gives him a warning before he goes off the deep end.
Mick Jenkins ft. Ben Hixon - Things You Could Die For If Doing While Black: New Wave Conscious Rapper Mick Jenkins released an album this week, “Elephant In the Room”. It’s filled with the down to earth rap he’s known for (none of the luxury life braggadocious shit and more of the introspective, social issues shit). This one describes things that Blacks have gotten killed while doing including (selling loosies, going for a jog, sleeping in the car and more) and how Mick wishes Black folks could just exist in peace.
SahBabii - Believe It: Self-proclaimed Sex Therapist and rapper SahBabii released “Do It For Demon” a new project with a variety of songs (not just the hornball stuff). Also note, I don’t judge people, so if he wanna have upside down crosses on his face and worship the man below that’s his business, I’m just here for the music. On Believe It he encourages us to believe in ourselves and believe we can fly (like R. Kelly but without all the nastiness). He want you to get money and blossom and stop trying to be a people pleaser. Wise words from a decent man. Also from “Do It For Demon”:

Megan Thee Stallion - Megan’s Piano: Shawty on a helluva run, after rolling out a sauce at Popeyes, Thee Stallion drops a new track heavy on the piano (duh, check the title). The beat is super hard and Meg’s flow is absolutely perfect. Shit bumps. This ain’t really my bag but it had the MacBook speakers knocking so I had to add it to the list. Editor’s Note: For the nosy niggas in the back it’s a MacBook Pro (I got a MacBook Air M1 too, no bigs) all these laptops and not one big booty bitty in my radius (lord, help me… seriously nigga, I’m tired of beating my meat my G…)
Joyner Lucas - Duck Duck Goose: Joyner has really glowed up over the past few years. He’s always been a premier lyricist but since that viral video with the black dude and the white dude arguing then hugging it out and collabing with Em, dude been getting that chedda (and kissing Ashanti in the mouth on camera, bruh!) This is another display of lyrical mastery, he describes his come up, being the underdog, how it used to be dry now it’s a flood. Duck, duck he the goose juu heard!?
Eli Fross ft. Lil Zay Osama - Mad Max: NY Drill staple, Eli Fross, hops on a beat that differs from usual sound slightly and it’s a nice change of pace. He matches his flow with the beat and with Chitown’s LZO they spit that extra hard, beat you ass, murk all the ops bars. I will be lifting weights to this for the next month for sure.
Bobby Schmurda - Cartier Lens: It’s Bobby bitch! ATL-style trap beat and Bobby goes in on it. He’s been catching a lot of flak since he’s been released from prison, from dating a snowbunny stripper to doing a lot of sus dances, the internet has been on his ass daily (pause, unpause) But the man was locked down, let him enjoy himself. If he wanna shake his ass, let him. It’s videos of him turning down alcohol in the club, mans tryna live his life right. And he Jamaican (I think) and we see the type of time Safaree be on so be tolerant of cultural differences and shit. I digress, this is a Tough Tune, great club track, will be on repeat on the radio and should be on your playlist so get er done boi!
Yung Miami - Rap Freaks: I love concept tracks. On this one, Yung Miami (of City Girls) lets us know all the niggas she wants to smash. Including calling out some booed up rappers like Moneybagg Yo and Meg Thee Stallion (nice!) She wants a 3-way with Lil Durk and his girl India and also wants to blaze Lil Baby and DaBaby. She tells Future she’ll put it on him better than his old work and she wanna kick it with 50. She does mention someone she can’t imagine bumping uglies with and that man is her rumored past lover Kodak Black (shots fired). She also delivers the classic line “Diddy let me put it in ya face like them roaches” referring to an IG post Diddy made where he revealed he would have mad roaches crawling in his face as a kid in the hood but now he rich rich. Based on photos from the past year it would seem like Yung Miami has actually lived out that bar.
Lancey Foux & 24kGoldn - Big Swag: Up and comer Lancey Foux (who has a Playboi Carti-esque high pitched delivery) got with Pop Rap sensation 24kGoldn and produced this radio-ready upbeat track. Both guys are swagged out to the max. They got lots of money and lotsa ladies and they make it very clear on the song.
DMX - Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: Perfect kick off to the holiday season. DMX’s rendition of Rudolph The Reindeer was an underground classic and now it’s being officially released. Realistically we should all only be playing 2 songs over the next 2 months, this track and Mariah’s “All I Want For Christmas is a Big Booty Bitty” (please Lord!)
