The Hit List Week 57: (May 23 - May 29)
Lobby Boyz (Maino & Jim Jones) ft. Benny The Butcher - Praying: The Lobby Boyz (Jim Jones & Maino) released their long awaited self-titled project this week. It’s filled with flips of classic Hip-Hop tracks. I loved the whole project, and I really loved “Praying” with Benny. Uptempo with a chipmunked vocal loop. Maino prays with the same hands that he touches drugs with. He gets hammered and lets artists draw on his body (white boy wasted). He pushes a Ferrari while sipping the finest liqueurs. He gave his wife up for the heaux. Benny copped the Lamborghini Urus and rocks Amiri jeans. It was hard to smile when he was broke but now he up. He keeps a shooter around like the DC sniper. All the cats he came up with either Rich, Dead or Ubering (BARZ!!!!). Jim prays with the same hands he bangs Blood with. Jim spits some icy bars (he is the weatherman). He just bought another house and he still skirts off in the Range with the drillers. He asks God not to judge him for his gunplay and prior crimes. Check out these other highlights from “Lobby Boyz”:
Project Baby
Climb Back (ft. Dios Moreno)
Slide (ft. Fivio Foreign)
No Bobby V (ft. Fabolous)
Bk & Harlem
Never Take Me Alive (with Dave East)
SleazyWorld Go ft. Lil Baby - Sleazy Flow (Remix): New Artist Alert! Nice minimalist downtempo beat with keys and a simple drum loop. Reminds me of SpotemGotem’s “Beat Box”. Sleazy threatens the opps and their families. He also receives fellatio from his opp’s girl and she likes to be around him and his gang because they're the ones with the guns. Lil Baby comes through in a red & white Ferrari fresh as a peppermint. He also spends quality time with his opp’s wifey. He travels around the globe doing what he wants with no regrets and being a shining example of Black Excellence.
Kamaiyah - Blue Maserati: A week after dropping the single FWI, Kamaiyah dropped a new project called “Divine Timing”. My favorite track is Blue Maserati. Kamaiyah has always had the melodic flow on lock and catchy hooks but couple that with the “Sweet Shay Shay, My Baby” and she got me hook, line, and sinker. I first heard about Sweet Shay Shay on 03 Greedo’s track “Sweet Lady” which Drake said inspired him while cooking up “Scorpion”. Kamaiyah tells her main thang that they got her heart forever. Now they cruising in a Blue Maserati, top down, vibing. She’s committed for life. The Lord sent her bae to K. Go check out “Divine Timing” and be sure to listen to “Brand New Rolex” too.
OMB Peezy ft. G Herbo - Mufasa: OMB P dropped a loosie this week. The beat came on and I heard the “Hitmaka” tag and I knew this was gonna be one of them ones. Peezy is the king of jungle, Mufasa. He grew up with choppas. Where he from, if there’s a problem, he’ll pull up to the block and light the opps up. He’s sliding in an SRT so the opps or the cops won’t catch him. G Herbo comes on and lets us know that he has many many legal firearms (he has options). Way before fame he was mobbin. His crew was starving but now they have a whole lotta M’s and 8-figure transactions.
Nafe Smallz ft. Bugsey & Young T - Beep: British Artist Nafe Smallz released a new project this week called “Legacy”. After hearing him on one of my all time fave tracks, Skepta’s “Greaze Mode” I couldn’t wait to give this one a listen. My favorite track from “Legacy” is “Beep” featuring fellow Brits Bugsey & Young T. The guys like to push Audis and get BJs while traveling through Venice. They like thick chicks and fat stacks of cash. Go give “Legacy” a listen if you’ve ever read a Harry Potter book and/or seen one of the movies.
Rick Hyde - Who Am I!?!: Hip-Hop! Hip-Hop! BSF’s own Rick Hyde released an album this week called “Stigma”. It’s got that gritty NY sound throughout. My favorite track is “Who Am I!?!” It’s a departure from the boom-bap beats we usually hear Rick on. This one has a chipmunked soul sample (very Ye-esque) and muted drums. He’s the brightest and the boldest and he’s putting everyone on notice. He had a rough upbringing and had doubts that he would be an earner. But he’s a dreamchaser, and with some long hours in the studio he’s in rap’s stratosphere. He’s global now, he gets love in Nova Scotia, and Australia and Brazil. He's up, but he’s still working to free his brother too. Go give “Stigma” a listen if someone has ever told you that you have the right to remain silent and anything you say, can and will be used against you.
Nonso Amadi & Majid Jordan - Different: I hadn’t heard of Nonso prior to this but I have heard of MJ. This is not only an A1 track but their sounds mesh together well. Afrobeat, Nonso sings to his bae. He’s missing her and he wants to take her out. He's deep in love and admitted that she’s Different from all the other women he’s dealt with. She’s not just a pretty face with a fat booty. The singing nigga from Majid Jordan treats his girl right whether it’s day or night. The moment he sees her, he’s infatuated. He’s also deep in love and he needs his shawty more and more. His boo thang is built Different.
Kaash Paige & Lil Tjay - 24 Hrs: Texas & NY link on this ballad. Kaash Paige sings to her main squeeze and encourages her to pick up the phone and call on her. She asks if she can take her time. She stays up till 3 in the morning calling. She wants shawty to send the addy. She wants to take champagne showers and she knows that pussy got power. Tjay’s girl starts orgasming before he puts the tip in. He likes to switch positions then after they climax he likes to stare in her eyes. When he’s gone, he makes sure he’s not gone more than 24 hours cuz she be fiendin for him.
Millyz ft. Fivio Foreign - Opt Out: NY spitter Millyz released a new project this week called “Blanco 5”. Shit is crazy B! Bars A1, Beats A1, Features A1. Not that it matters but I didn’t even know mans was white until he said it on one of the tracks (Blanco makes sense now..). This is one of those albums that I started listing every single track as a highlight (and they are) so I had to chill. One of my favorites on the project is “Opt Out” with Fivi. Millyz enjoys roadhead and poonani so good he starts to cuss profusely. He pulls up in the Tesla with the diamonds dancing. He rolls around with hitmen so be careful. Fivio gives the homies an ultimatum, you either gon be an opp or be his brother (no in between). He guzzles henny and pops a couple pills to have a good time. He’s climbing a steep hill and if he survives, he’s gonna get a deal. Listen to “Blanco 5” no skips and especially these highlights:
Rearview Mirror (ft. Jadakiss)
Conversation (ft. Dtheflyest)
War Zone (ft. Gnipsey & King OSF)
Jayson Cash ft. Landstrip Chip & Symba - Pull Up: Cali artist Jayson Cash released a new album this week called “Read The Room”. I had never heard of JC but the project was in the Itunes Store carousel in the Hip-Hop/R&B section and I liked the cover and sampled a track and decided to give the whole thing a listen. First thing I thought was how much he sounded like Dom Kennedy so I wasn’t surprised to see DK appear multiple times on the album (might be his blood brother). My favorite track is “Pull Up” with Landstrip Chip and Symba (who has the streets in a frenzy Bob!). Chill beat with strings and a classic West Coast vibe. JC just wanna pull up with his niggas stuntin and get into something. Pick up some dranks then slide. He runs the city and only deals with the baddest of baddies. He’s optimistic as he feels like everything he wants he’s gonna get. Symba just left France and he’s headed to San Fran. He just bought a new Mercedes and he just wants to Pull Up to the liquor store smoking a blunt of the dankest dank. He encourages the homies to have a plan cuz the streets ain’t playing. Check out “Read The Room” if you ever tried Edwards 40 hands and halfway through realized you either gon piss on yourself or your bladder was gonna burst then you’d die a slow painful death in your homies grandma’s crib.
BRS Kash - New Money: LVRN signee BRS Kash released a new track this week. It’s a catchy bop where he has a simple message: He wakes up and gets some new money everyday. He likes to rock Cartier shades and then go shopping for designer clothes. He likes to count up racks while he sits back and relaxes. He also likes to count up the bread while he’s getting some toppy. He touched a million before age 24 (and paid all his taxes too). He’s willing to do whatever it takes for the cake. He’s a hustler and he hustles hard.
Rucci ft. Cheyenne Wright - Got It Right: Rucci released a new album this week called “El Perro 2” full of West Coast slappers. My favorite track is “Got It Right” featuring Cheyenne Wright (makes sense). Produced by DJ.Fresh (who did his thing on the last Nef The Pharoah collab project) the track is an uptempo bop that samples Biggie’s “I’m Fucking You Tonight”. On this one Rucci talks about dreaming about the good life, working for it, now he’s living it. The story of his life: He finally got it right. And even though he’s made it big, he’s still humble wit it. Go check out “El Perro 2” if you delivered a package across state lines for your cousin.
Logic ft. Like, Blu & Exile - Orville: Bobby Tarantino is loading the clip for his new album release “Vinyl Days” and he’s been dropping some heat in the lead up, including this new loosie “Orville”. Over a Boom Bap beat with scratches and a hypnotic background Logic talks about how his mind is hella active and he can’t sit still. He kinda feels like he took a Limitless pill. To him, family matters above all else. He didn’t go to college and made millions. The beat flips and Like & Blue warn the opps that they some biters who bit they style and to tone it down with the shit poppin. They raw (no condom), they never charted but are often regarded as the hardest (those that know, know). This album bout to be crazy!
Conway ft. Benny The Butcher & Flee Lord - Marathon: Conway released a new mixtape this week called “Organized Grime 2”. It’s not on DSPs it’s on Bandcamp or Trillmatic or somewhere. I listened on Youtube (y’all aint gone stop the rain over chea). Anyway, my favorite track is Marathon with Benny & Flee Lord. It has a 70’s soul/R&B vibe. Conway spits them street bars about his homie who caught a case in 08 (free him) but also tells the herbs that the IG chick they idolize is a thot to him. Benny demands his respect and the bitties never reject him. On the block he was getting tax-free money and he plans to double his income from last year. Flee puffs on gelato and also chugs the finest of alcohols. He keeps a banger on stage because like a boy scout, he’s always prepared. He’s always shining even in the darkest places.
Kanye & XXXTentacion - True Love: Emo streets been waiting for this for a hot lil minute. First thought to be on Donda, then Donda 2 now it’s going to appear On X’s upcoming album (and maybe added to Donda 2 because that’s how Ye gets down). Kanye bares his soul about his current divorce and co-parenting situation. He assures his kids after he drops them off, offers feedback about their attire to their mom, then departs, that “Daddy’s not gone”. He tells the same thing to XXX’s only child Gekyume. X sings the hook, he laments that True Love shouldn’t be this complicated. He thought he’d die in her arms but they went their separate ways prior to his untimely passing.
