The Hit List Week 61: (June 20 - June 26)
Chris Brown ft. Bryson Tiller - Need You Right Here: Mr. Brown released his much anticipated album “Breezy” this week. It’s a 24 track music marathon with everything from Traditional R&B, to Afrobeats to R&B with a splash of NY Drill. I love the project and it’ll get hella radio spins. My favorite track is “Need You Right Here” with Bryson Tiller. It starts off like a classic R&B bop then the beat drops and the tempo picks up. Chris assures shawty it’s only her (he swears)... Breezy Needs her Right Here (which is the bathroom of the party, she’s down). Anything she wants from Chris, he’ll do it. All he asks is that she tats his name on her booty (reasonable). Bryson wants his shorty to go another round (Breezy callback) and also to accompany him downtown (in more ways than one). Bryson’s shawty is incomparable and her competition doesn’t even come close that’s why he needs her in his room. Go check out “Breezy” and don’t skip these highlights:
Till The Wheels Fall Off (ft. Lil Durk & Capella Grey)
C.A.B (Catch A Body) [ft. Fivio Foreign]
Possessive (ft. Lil Wayne & BLEU)
Psychic (ft. Jack Harlow)
Show It (ft. Blxst)

Beyoncé - Break My Soul: Queen Bey set the internet ablaze when she removed all her profile pics from her socials. Then came the album announcement: Renaissance July 29th. Whole music industry scrambled, moving dates up and back. You know the Queen gonna have a clear out, ain’t shit dropping that day (except Nav, Nav said fuck it). Anyway we got word the first single would be dropping and it came in the form of “Break My Soul”. BMS is an upbeat, Dance track, not unlike what Drake did on “Honestly, Nevermind. Yoncé proclaims that “You won’t break my soul” and she’s telling everybody. She speaks from the perspective of someone who just fell in love and quit their job. They’re building a new foundation and everything’s on the up and up. Also like Drake’s “Nice For What” this track features New Orleans own Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia. It’s meant to set the club on fire. Smoke and sip yak while all the bitties vogue to this and release the stress.
GIVEON - Get To You: arguably the best project to drop this week (and one of the best R&B offerings this year), Giveon dropped what seems to be his debut studio album “Give or Take”. It’s Classic R&B at its finest, with Giveon’s unique voice the most powerful instrument on most tracks. I really love “Get To You”. He lays out the theme in the beginning as he states the previous track was him trying to push shawty away while this one is him saying “I’m Ready”. He’s single, but it’s getting old quick. He’s on the road each night and it gets lonely. He’s looking for someone to snuggle up with. He apologizes for being indecisive. He's been playing games but now he’s ready to lock in and he’s trying to get to her. Add “Give or Take” to your Late Night Playlist and thank me later. Other highlights:
Let Me Go
Scarred
Tryna Be
Lost Me
Unholy Matrimony
Merlyn Wood - ROCKSTAR: Brockhampton member Merlyn Wood dropped a new track this week. It starts off with 90’s piano keys then interpolates D’Angelo’s smash hit “Untitled (How Does It Feel”. M Dub repeats the phrase “U mad!?” with different variations “U dumb mad?” “U big mad?” “U real mad?”. He’s at your house with your spouse and has his meat all in her mouth (consensually). He realizes that you may have taken that personally and now U mad. He was just tryna get a nut. He doesn’t like when homies (and a select slice of Whites) do things for clout.
Lupe Fiasco ft. Nayirah - SEATTLE: Lupe dropped a new album this week called “DRILL MUSIC IN ZION”. The display of lyricism is Top 5 for 2022 with only Kendrick and Push immediately coming to mind for who could challenge him with their projects in that department. I’m a Lu stan and love DMIZ. “SEATTLE” is a an outlier on the project, a change of pace. Featuring the sultry vocals of Nayirah who kept her promise to the Streets. She hopes that they stay trapped and that they go Supersonic (that explains the title, Seattle). She knows she can keep a secret. Lupe also kept his promise to the streets. He brings all his knives to the gunfight. He knows computers have no souls, and advises we give no power to the trolls (and that we ourselves control all our socials). He went from fish sticks to Nobu. Westside Chicago is where he’s from (and’ don’t you forget it Jack). Check out “DRILL MUSIC IN ZION” and be sure to catch these tracks:
GHOTI
PRECIOUS THINGS (ft. Nayirah)
KIOSK
NAOMI
DRILL MUSIC IN ZION
Ace Hood - Energy: Ace Hood dropped a loosie this week. Beat crazy, upbeat, perfect for the gym. Hood was raised in a dungeon but now he is blessed in abundance. He’s proof that you can bounce back from a setback. He encourages us to watch our surroundings and protect our energy.
Roddy Ricch - No Mop: Double R snuck a 3 pack out there and it’s lit. My favorite track out of the 3 is “No Mop”. Produced by LondonOnDaTrack, it’s a whole ass vibe. Roddy spits about his main thang. Shawty is his trophy and he ain’t thinking bout nobody else. If all goes well, he plans on purchasing her a nice watch (AP, Rollie, Richard Mille or Patek Philippe) and a Birkin. He also promises to take her to St. Bart’s. When it comes to sexual intercourse, he likes doggystyle and cowgirl. Once he gets going he can’t stop especially because the cooter stays super wet (No Mop). She always makes sure to give him blowjobs. She likes to ride Rod. Note: If you pay close attention, Roddy Ricch talks about getting his meat sucked in like every song. He might have a fellatio addiction.
The Game x Hit-Boy - Violence: “When they play that new Geezy all the dope boys Go Crazy!” LA MC The Game is gearing up to drop his new album “Drillmatic” sometime before or after Beyoncé. He’s released this Hit-Boy produced track “Violence” this week after teasing the streets with a snippet. Summertime LA vibes, he warns the opps that he’ll beat them like they stole something if they get outta line. He urges Georgia to free Young Thug while also bigging up West Coast legend Mack 10. His pockets fatter than Rick Ross and he’s still smoking the chronic. All he hears is Violence and when he walks in the room all he hears is silence. He also hears sirens and so many guns clapping that it sounds like violins.
Lil Durk ft. Moneybagg Yo - Hear It Back: Durkio dropped a Deluxe to his 2022 album “7220” adding 13 new tracks (basically a whole new album but this is how Durk do.) My favorite of the new tracks is “Hear It Back” with Moneybagg. Smurk shouts out his late brother and tells a thottie to skedaddle because he’s not breaking bread. He has watches that cost half a million with no diamonds. He also asks his shawty to not talk to him about her exes. He tells some homies that he loves them but they don’t reciprocate. Bagg subsists off jungle juice & Ruffles. He’s in the trap trying to fill up a duffle. His smoking bowls of truffles. He told a young lady when he pays for her to get her body done her body count resets to zero (man’s gotta have a code). Check out “7220” (Deluxe) if you ever had a fight with one of your siblings and you thought to yourself “We’ll really settle this after mama die.”
BlueBucks Clan - Just Hit Me: My favorite West Coast rap group since SOBxRBE dropped a new track this week. Bouncy beat with some twangy keys. If you know BBC you know they go back and forth a lot. Not always my verse, hook, your verse, they just go. This one starts off with a more traditional delivery but then they get into they back and forth bag. DJ kicks it off and lets us know he be having the blue check bitties arguing in his live streams. He just talk shit on tracks he can’t quite sing. He’s dripped in Celine and he’ll pull up to the party with hella bops. While there he has a few moments of clarity where it just hits him, that he beat the cheeks of the girl of his dreams, he spent too much on his white jeans, and that is in fact him on them bright screens. Jeeezy jumps on the track and lets us know that he was smashing all the baddies when he was 19. He’s rocking some Chrome Heart jeans, pushing a Bentley truck searching for a chick’s baby daddy so he can beat him up. DJ could still bone his exes because they’re still in touch and he met a super baddie but she ain’t got no money. His rule: he wants shawty to give him everything and wants nothing from him (mans gotta have a code, Part II).
Money Man & BC Jroc - Stompers: One of the best indie artists of this decade dropped a new project this week called “Big Money”. I love “Stompers” which has a 70’s soul vibe. MM bought matching Rollies for his daughter and his BM. Him and BC Jroc have matching choppers (legal of course). Money Man likes to squeeze titties and does it often. He has a snow bunny on the squad that looks like Madonna and she knows how to roll a perfect blunt. BC Jroc lost a couple bands but he got it back. He warns the opps that if they go against the gang he’ll put the infrared to their baseball caps. He used to skip class to mess with the bops. He was down bad but now he in the kitchen cooking like a chef. Him and Money Man are some Stompers. Other standouts from “Big Money”:
Corrupted
Big Money
Overload (with Benny The Butcher)
Escape (with Juney Knotzz)
New York
Roar
22gz ft. Kodak Black - Up n Stuck: NY Drill rapper 22gz may have just caught a murder case but that won’t stop him from releasing top tier tunes for ya headtop. 22 has the opp niggas ducking. It be all fun and games until he touches them. The opps were stealing the drip and looking for too much attention so he had to address it. Kodak busts Ks and the beef has him losing focus. He gave his homie everything that he got but now the homie switched up and is linking with his opp.
Jack Johnson - Don’t Look Now: Jack Johnson holds a special place in my heart. His music (and specifically the album Sitting, Waiting, Wishing) was the soundtrack to the happiest day of my life (another story for another day). He dropped a new album this week called “Meet The Moonlight” which is full of his signature smooth acoustic sound. My favorite track is “Don’t Look Now”. It gives me Bloodhound Gang “The Bad Touch” vibes as Jack says that we’re just animals in love. Him and his bae got all shook up. He’s looking within to discover the issue and knows what he has to do to reconnect (chop down the tree he’s on). He’s looking for the real thing even though he knows it’s fleeting. Check out “Meet The Moonlight” and especially these tracks:
3 AM
Costume Party
Windblown Eyes
YG ft. Tyga & 21 Savage & Bia - Run: We got a preview of the video for this track where YG & Tyga had on makeup and costumes to make them look like Shawn & Marlon in White Chicks (21 musta said hell to the naw). The track is dope! “Run them bands up, run them bands up” They spendin cuz they up and yall thought they was the falling off but they still in the mix. YG shows love to the dead homie Slim 400. He’s got alotta of bands in one hand and alotta drank in the other. He skirts off in the Ferrari and puts faith in his Glock because it doesn’t jam. He knows the poonani starts wars in the streets so he moves cautiously. T-Rawwr has a different chick every night (some squirters). He’s got mad money in the safe and he’s an ass fanatic. He’s always busy but for the cake he makes time. BIA runs it til she’s tired. She’s been hot like when Richard Pryor lit himself on fire freebasing. 21 Savage rocks a plain jane Rollie and his focus is on the money. He’ll spin the block on the opps till he's dizzy and he’ll purchase a woman’s breast augmentation surgery if she plays her position.
French Montana & Harry Fraud with Rick Ross - Kind of Girl: French Montana & Harry Fraud dropped “Montega” this week, a new project filled with A1 features and top tier beats (it’s Harry Fraud, obvi). My favorite track was this Ross collab. It’s a thug love song. It has a soul sample and Ross smokes the beat. Some of his chicks wonder if they the main or the side by asking “What are they?”. She asks how many chicks Ross got and he tells her to try to count the raindrops in the sky (Bars!) He only deals with soldiers and if she ain’t chasing money she wasting his time. He knows all the cheddar brings jealousy but he still stays dripped out in the finest silks. French was caught up in that life but now he good. He takes the helicopter to the Hamptons to avoid the traffic and he’s enjoying the view from the top. Check out these other highlights from “Montega”:
Blue Chills
Rushmore Pack
Drive By (ft. Babyface Ray)
Keep It Real (ft. EST Gee)
Drop Top (with Quavo)
Shorty So Bad
Lil Harold ft. Offset- Good Times: 21! 21! Lil Harold dropped a Deluxe to his 2021 album “LARRY”. He added four new tracks, my favorite of which samples SOS Band’s “Take Your Time (Do It Right)”. Harold had Good Times that outweigh the bad times. He used to have zips for the low and some of his old homies turned rat (yuck!) He’s a fan of hood rat chicks with big mouths, he’s rich and he smokes lovely. Offset inhales all the smoke, has literal millions and shows love to his dead homie Pistol P and his late grandma. He drives a bulletproof caddy and he warns the opps that the draco will get to singin (Toni Braxton). Fun fact about that Toni Braxton name drop: Toni & her future fiance Birdman also sampled the SOS track on the 2002 track “Baby You Can Do It”. Offset knows his music.
Dot Da Genius ft. Kid Cudi, J.I.D & Denzel Curry - Talk About Me: Producer Dot Da Genius dropped a new collab track with 3 of Hip Hop’s finest (accompanied by a Cole Bennett video so you know it’s fire). Denzel wonders what could strangers possibly know about him. Back in the day they used to doubt him, now everybody on the block talks about him. Around Cudi, women catch feelings and say they want to bear his seed (still do prolly). He’s poppin pills for the weekend (and jumping off the walls). Cudi’s focused, keeps setting new goals, and is locked in on his dreams. JID used to eat dinner with the fam then hit the block. He rides around in a Rolls-Royce puffing herb. He stands on all ten toes, sagging Girbauds, and he's never doing the most.
Cochise ft. Chief Keef - HUNT: XXL Freshman Cochise dropped a new project this week called “The Inspection”. It’s full of the turnup music Cochise is known for. My favorite track is “HUNT” with Chief Keef Sosa. It has a dark trap beat (haunting piano keys). Chief Keef starts the party. He knows his grandma is proud of him. He promises the opps that the lil homies will shoot them with a cap gun if they act up. Sosa smoking on that funk and will leave an opp smelling like a skunk. Bread up in his pocket look like buns. Cochise is in the city, up in the whipski with your bittie. He’s smoking on PCP and knows that niggas ain’t hard like him (pause). Other highlights from “The Inspection”:
TURN IT UP
DO IT AGAIN
DON’T RUN (ft. Same Wise, BlazeYL & Mally)
GRIND
Eminem ft. Snoop Dogg - From the D to the LBC: Two of the Doctor’s homies linked for an appropriately titled track from the D (Detroit not peen) to the LBC (Long Beach City). Beat insane, snare going brazy (don’t tell Snoop I said that). Em went platinum and admits Snoop’s weed is hella strong. He bounces his balls off his shawty’s tonsils like pinball. He was penniless and now he’s plenty rich. He urges everyone to raise their blunts and toast then raise their guns and boast. Snoop takes the baton from Em and starts rapping fast as hell. He rolls another blunt and suggests that we not complicate things too much and stick to the basics (wise words from a decent man). Before he invests in anything he makes sure it has the potential to be profitable and he believes no mission is impossible. Niggas slept on his flow now they copying it. Marshall & Calvin both come from the gutter like public housing, now they perform for hundreds of thousands. Tough Tune.
J.I. the Prince of NY - Stronger: The Young Prince dropped a new project this week called “Young & Restless, Vol. 1 Baby Don”. It’s super tight (like my girl, jk she mad loose and I don’t love her no more…) My favorite track is “Stronger”. JI has a couple tricks of his Burberry sleeve. He states that if you knew better you’d do better. Call him Steph Curry because he needs 5 x 5 plus another 5 (that’s 30 for the slow ones in the back). He warns the opps that when he sees them he will test their gangsta and they better stand on what they said. He can’t give his heart to a woman because he’s an all or nothing type of guy and right now he’s giving his all to the money. He knows what doesn’t kill him will make him Stronger. Other standouts from “Young & Restless, Vol. 1 Baby Don”:
I Ain’t Gon Lie
Murda
Taken For Granted
Right Away
Anders - Come With Me: Anders is new to me but apparently he’s been bubbling for awhile. I came across this new loosie he dropped and it’s a vibe. Feel good music, horns and summer vibes. He met a heartbroken bitty who flew to Paris to cheer herself up. He knows she’s lonely, dancing by herself in the club. He knows she came with someone else but suggests that she comes with him (in more ways than one…) He knows he’s got just what she needs.
Zaytoven ft. Trouble - Championships: ATL producer Zaytoven dropped a project this week called “Streetz Got No Heart”. It’s laced with his signature sound, piano keys playing in the back and hard trap beats. I really love Championships featuring the late great Trouble. Zay got flutes setting the mood on this one. Trouble uses an auto-tune flow to let us know he wants the rings, the championships. He set his sights on an Audemars watch and he didn't involve himself in sucka shit. He vacuum seals the P’s and he gets to that scrilla by any means. Check out “Streetz Got No Heart” and be sure to listen to these highlights:
TRILLTOVEN (ft. Bun B)
Scope Ya (ft. Sosa)
Seen a Lot (ft. Payroll)
Dougie B - Uzi: NY Driller Dougie B dropped a new track inspired by Lil Uzi Vert. It samples “I Can Show You” from Uzi’s 2020 Album Eternal Atake. Dougie puts a drill twist on it to disrespect his opps and let us know how much money and respect he gets. I’m a sucker for a sample and Eternal Atake (Deluxe) is one of my all time favorite albums so I’m fucking with this heavy.
Wiz Khalifa - Bad Ass Bitches: Pittsburgh legend Wiz Khalifa dropped a single this week. Club banger, he’s looking for some Bad Ass Bitties. He came to the club solo but like Denzel, he leaving there with something. Might even take a few back to the mansion for a couple rounds. He smokes hella herb, stacks hella paper and claps all the cheeks. Only the finest of course.
Juicy J & Pi’erre Bourne - Bring Them Out: Taylor Gang going back to back. Memphis royalty Juicy J dropped a collab project with producer Pi’erre Bourne (cheat code) called “Space Age Pimpin." Full of bops dedicated to turning up and getting top. My favorite track is “Bring Them Out”. What does he bring out you ask? Them hoes of course! Alotta ice on him, he froze out. Alotta bands on him, he brings them rolls out. The bops leave they man at home then go to Juicy’s crib to give him fellatio all night. After he nuts he comes back to his senses (and kicks the hoes out of course). Pi’erre Bourne drives a Space Age whip and loves doggystyle sex. He gave his cousin 50 racks and told him to leave the street life alone. Together they go to the booty club and donate that 50K to some young ladies so they can buy their kids breakfast the next day. Other highlights from “Space Age Pimpin”:
Bbl
Can’t Get Her
Nft
Kalan.FrFr ft. Blxst - No Stoppin: Two Cali up and comers dropped a collab track this week. Snap beat gives it that new wave Cali feel. Kalan gives shawty what she wants because she’s special. He knows everybody needs somebody so he tells shawty she can slide on through when she’s ready. Blxst be wrapped up in the love. He don’t have much time to spare but he’ll make time for shawty. He wants it as bad as she wants it, full speed, all gas, no brakes, no stopping.
