The Hit List WEEK 62: (June 27 - July 3)
EARTHGANG & Wiz Khalifa ft. Curren$y - Smoke Sum (Remix): Dreamville’s EarthGang released the Deluxe to their 2022 album “Ghetto Gods”. It features 6 additional tracks including remixes and alternate versions of songs featured on the original and a couple brand new joints. I really enjoyed the Remix of Smoke Sum which adds 2 of Hip-Hop’s biggest Stoners Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y the Hot Spitta. Roll up another one, fire it up and vibe out to this track.
Reason - Barely Miss: TDE’s Reason dropped a loosie this week to talk his shit. The beat crazy with a high-hat loop and flutes setting the mood. Reez talks about dropping opps (his aim is impeccable), graduating from the School of Hard Knocks, working hard for his chips, blowjobs, Bloods & Crips, and in multiple areas of life he almost never misses (hence the song title).
Muni Long - Crack: Songstress and songwriter Muni Long released a new EP this week called “Public Displays of Affection Too”. She’s been on a run ever since Hrs and Hrs went viral. I really loved every track on this project (it’s 5 songs). “Cartier” is my favorite but wanted to highlight Crack because of how spicy it is. Muni Long let a gentleman have a taste of the gushy but now he walking round like he never had no good pussy. She warned him that what’s between her legs is highly addictive like crack cocaine. Mans was hard-headed and wouldn’t listen. One hit and your hooked but too much will have you tweaking. Be careful when getting mixy with Ms Long. Go check out “Public Display of Affection Too” if you like top shelf Rhythm & Blues.
Lil GotIt - MF TRIMM: ATL’s own Lil GotIt dropped a track this week. On it he pays homage to his big bro Lil Keed who passed away unsuspectedly in May at the young age of 24. “MF TRIMM” has a club-ready beat, GotIt flexes hard, raps about his fast cars, poppin pills, running down on haters. He doesn’t cuff any women (he’s a sharer not a carer). He ain’t no simp, he’s a real big dawg (he don’t miss no meals), and everyday he got a different fit. Free YSL.
Bino Rideaux ft. Coot Corleone - HOT SHIT: Cali’s own Bino Rideuax dropped a project this week called “SORRY 4 THA WAIT II”. My favorite track is “HOT SHIT” featuring Coot Corleone. Wavy snap beat. Bino admits the pussy has that power and he would like to dive deep in it while rollin on molly. Coot Corleone is a fly Crip and he’s vibing out with his shawty when he tells her that he loves her. He brought her a diamond ring (but doesn’t wife it). He asks hisself if she is playing games or is she really down for him. He’s addicted, her sex is like a drug that heals all his pain. Go check out “SORRY 4 THA WAIT II” and don’t miss these standouts:
DEJ’S INTERLUDE
HEARTLESS ft. Drakeo the Ruler
Dave East - How We Livin: NY’s Dave East dropped a new loosie that got the streets going crazy. Beat fire (he gets a bad rap for being a poor beat picker but can’t argue with this one). East might smoke one spliff before he spins the block on an opp. Some guys be woofin’ on the net but when he sees them it’s a different story. You might find him on the block with a hundred lil niggas or cruising in the whipski with his bitty. Ain’t many he can trust, he’s cut from a different cloth. He charges different prices in different cities and he dropping packs off all up and down Interstate 95. He never asked his mom to cop his J’s, he got on the block, hustled, and got the guap himself.
G Perico - That’s My Dawg: The man who kept Jheri curls alive in LA into the 21st century dropped a new EP this week called “111th East” (which probably references where he’s from). This is an anthem for the homies. He rides with his amigos if they wrong or if they right. Him and his crew is some playas and he ain’t bout to fall out for nothing with his perros (dogs in Spanish). Beat has a Latin twist too. Also check out “Legitimate” from “111th East”.
Berner - Cold Champagne For Lunch: Bay Area legend Berner dropped a new joint dedicated to the good life. “It’s a wave!” Berner slides solo and sees his logo all around the world (he’s one of America’s preeminent cannabis entrepreneurs). He reminisces about the wild lineup of women he’s been with as he glances at his gold Patek Philipe watch. He had it rough, now it’s no more stress for months and Cold Champagne For Lunch.
Headie One x Frenna - Bigger Than Life: Suh! Suh! UK’s own Headie One dropped a loosie this week with Frenna. Headie knows money is a mindset and rose from the depths of the deep to be covered in diamonds. He had daddy issues but he’s working through them. He’s got the baddest B’s and he always has the gang with him (even at Fashion Week). Frenna handles the hook. He uses a melodious flow to let us know that the guys are graduates of the School of Hard Knocks. They been up running all night and won’t stop grinding til they’re bigger than life.
THEY. ft. Fana Hues - Comfortable: THEY. been poppin, but now they’re making their names known (literally Dante & Drew I believe). They released the new track and it’s a gem (I smell an album coming). Shawty never envisioned herself messing with guys like them but they (see what I did) can show her stuff not seen in her wildest dreams. They suggest she get comfortable because they bout to go for a ride. She’s been working overtime and niggas got her stressing but they can change it all for her. Life’s short and they might as well get together. Fana Hues handles the second verse. She makes the rules and mandates no rushing. She knows timing is everything, that pressure makes diamonds, and she’s in it for the long haul. You just gotta show her you worth it.
Lil Silva ft. Charlotte Day Wilson - Leave It: Producer Lil Silva dropped a 2 pack this week. I really enjoyed “Leave It” featuring the silky smooth vocals of Charlotte Day Wilson. Production is A1 and CDW is trying to escape the past. She’s in Paris licking her wounds when she meets someone else equally bruised and battered. They’re gonna try to work it out together and build something they can hold on to.
Joey Bada$$ - Where I Belong: JB gearing up to drop his new album “2000” soon (once all the samples clear, juu know?) and he blessed us with this single from the album. “Where I Belong” is produced by Statik Selektah and has that 90’s boom-bap sound. Joey’s neck is covered in VVS diamonds and he’s taking steps to be the best until his last breath. He gave the game his all now his bank busting. Everytime they thought he was down, he leveled up. He’s where he belongs. (Drop the album Jozef!)
Rowdy Rebel ft. Dee Billz - SPOTEMGOTTEM: 2 NY Drillers dropped a Drill bop this week. It has a tweaked Drill sound with a unique percussion loop. Rowdy, will send the opps to the Lord. If he spot him, he got em and tha boi’s next stop is heaven. Dee Billz hits his two step and then hits an opp in the lungs with the beam and splits him in two like a fraction. He chases guap, he don’t care about fame.
