The Hit List WEEK 69: (August 15 - August 21)
Larry June: - I’m Him: Good Job Larry! Mr. June dropped his new album “Spaceships on the Blade” this week. Shit is fire. Laid back vibes throughout. Great album to cruise to, smoke a blunt and just chill. I love the whole project. One of my favorite tracks is “I’m Him”. Bass knocks while Larry describes cruising through the streets as the ladies flock. He pays cash for all his whips, no lease. Anywhere he rolls up, his fit is clean and everybody can tell that he’s Him. Check out “Spaceships on the Blade” and these highlights:
Private Valet
Things You Do
Don’t Check Me
Another Day, Pt. 2
Still Boomin (ft. 2 Chainz)
Brand New Machinery (ft. DCKWRTH)

Big K.R.I.T. - Extra Credit: KRIT dropped a loosie this week with an old school type beat. He’s a dragon, the alpha and omega. He goes extra to be great, he goes extra for the fam, he’s got extras on his plate. How much you ask? Extra Extra!
B.o.B. ft. TechN9ne - Nigga Now: B.o.B dropped a project this week called "Better Than Drugs" and it's full of an eclectic mix of sounds. My favorite track “Nigga Now” has hints of a Detroit-type beat and Bob employs a Detroit-type flow. Techa Nina puts his sauce on it, sounding like a pimp and talking bout eating pussy. If you dun know both these gentlemen are that Nigga Now. Other standouts from “Better Than Drugs”:
Pablo (ft. Fuegogamo)
Reminisce (ft. Ashoka)
Money Slidin (ft. TTO TKO)
The LOX - Terminator LOX: The hip hop legends go in on over Public Enemy’s “Terminator X” beat. Street bars about shooting niggas, moving work, getting money, sippin drank and raw dogging big booty bitties. One of the best bars: “Too much hate is why you missing your blessings”.
Internet Money ft. Lucki - 2k in the Soda: Internet Money dropped an EP this week called “We All We Got”. My favorite track features Chicago’s Lucki. Wavy, with triumphant horns and that spooky alien whistle loop. Lucki is super geeked up but he can still read the room. He got bread so he don’t need his flowers. He only went to LA for the drink, he only stays around his friends that play for keeps and he only fucks with Benzes if they’re AMG.
Fabolous & Jim Jones - Rich Hustle: NY’s finest and ⅔ of the Fit Lit Gang dropped a loosie this week. Produced by Hitmaka, it has NY summer time vibes. Fab’s tryna be paid in full on some Rico shit. He can’t complain, life’s a bitch but he became a champ from pain. He hustled all winter for a rich summer. Jim spits about poppin champagne for decades and poppin his pistol. His drip got all the bitties thirsty.
Tank ft. Alex Isley - No Limit: After R&B was declared dead by Puff-P Diddy-Brother Love Combs, Tank dropped a new album, “R&B Money”, a certified R&B banger for all our headtops. I was impressed by the range on the project. It has traditional R&B and also some modern/experimental tracks as the album progresses. An instant highlight is the Alex Isley collab “No Limit”. Downtempo, Tank is a master with the D and ain’t No Limit to how many rounds he can go. He likes to smack cheeks while he’s in it. Alex Isley makes it rain (without dolla bills), and knows that mans been wishing upon a star for a chick like her. She’s a master with the P and knows nobody can last. Go check out “R&B Money” and don’t miss these standouts:
Slow (ft. J. Valentine)
Can’t Let It Show
I Deserve
Make Sure (ft. Feather)
Let’s Take A Ride (ft. Rotimi & TVERSE)
Awesome (ft. Blaq Tuxedo)
Symba - Go Get It: Cali spitter Symba seems geared up for a project release soon. After dropping a track with Pusha T last week he’s back with a 2-pack including “Go Get It” and “Put Me In The Game”. I think both are in Madden 23 as I heard one after I smoked my OG last night on the PS5. “Go Get It” has that bounce. All Symba knows is to go, go get it. All his life he’s been a go-getter. He shoots his shot and he ain’t gon miss it. Can’t wait for Symba’s project to drop.
Tink ft. Toosii - Cum See Me: Don’t get confused, this week we got projects from Tank and Chicago’s own, Tink. She dropped an album called “Pillow Talk”. Dope project, great to play in the evening with your main ting. Quite a few tracks were produced by another Chi-town native, Hitmaka. My favorite track is “Cum See Me” with Toosii. Slow jam, Tink can’t sleep, she’s tossin and turning, she’s still dreaming about her dude and asks him to Cum See her as she’s yearning. They started as friends but now he’s going deep like Randy Moss. Toosii a lil freak bul. He likes to hit it from the back and put his thumb in his bae’s booty. He licks the “click” and then goes down to the gooch and starts talking into the pussy like it’s a megaphone (boy wildin!) Other highlights from “Pillow Talk”:
Switch
Opposite
Goofy
Mine (with Muni Long)
Balance
News (ft. Russ)
Key Glock - From Nothin: Memphis heavyweight, Key Glock, has been holding it down for Paper Route Empire after the untimely passing of label boss Young Dolph. He dropped another bop this week with “From Nothin”. He’s straight from the block and won’t change for nothin. He’s the same young nigga who came From Nothin. He’s from the same city that killed Martin Luther King and if he said he did it, then he done it. Even though he brags a lot he’s really humble. He keeps a glock in his britches and dozens of bitches. Tough Tune
Aitch & AJ Tracey - R Kid: UK’s best white rapper, Aitch, dropped (what I believe is) his debut album this week “Close To Home”. Great project, some introspective tunes, some stuff for the radio. Mans is on the way up. My favorite track is “Close To Home” with fellow Brit AJ Tracey. The hook samples the Mobb Deep, Lil Kim classic “Quiet Storm”. The guys are willing to donate actual blood to their homies. Aitch feels low sometimes and the next day he feels on top of the world. He puts loyalty and unity first so he ain’t movin if he can’t move with his herd. AJ Tracey got betrayed by a loved one and that shit really hurt. He didn’t let that make him lose the loyalty to his bros and now they all have chocolate Rollies. Check out “Close to Home” and these highlights:
Money Habits (with Mastermind)
Baby (with Ashanti)
Sunshine (ft. New Machine)
Fuego
Hollinwood to Hollywood
42 Dugg - IDGAF: Four Two dropped a loosie this week with a beat so hard I was going crazy in my living room. He don’t Give a Fuck. He wants to spend some quality time with Meg The Stallion and even offers to press her opps. All his shit slaps and his haters are hella jealous. He’s got the Maybach with big wheels and he doesn't care if you hold it down because his chick will. Bars on bars on bars (no hook required).
Stunna Gambino - What If?: NY’s Stunna Gambino dropped a new project his week called “Vultures Don’t Kry”. Lots of melodic pain music (Rod Wave vibes over new wave NY beats & flows). My favorite track is “What If?” It’s a love song dedicated to his main damie. Snap beat with a chipmunked vocal loop in the background. SG would rather lose himself before he loses her. He got mad bitties on his jock but he chose her. It's them against the world, she’s the one for him. More standouts from “Vultures Don’t Kry”:
Warzone (ft. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie)
Demons (ft. A Boogie Wit Da hoodie)
Konfident
Offset - 54321: With Unc & Phew cooking up their project, Offset is still stepping, now on the solo tip. He’s smoking on gas and running with his pack (like a wolf). The ladies be checking for him but he doesn't give them the time of day (he’s a faithful married Black man and everybody knows Black men don’t cheat. And if wifey finds out about the DMs some of the ladies send him she coming for everybody neck.) He rocks Nikes and mad jewelry as he pushes his Rari. 5,4,3,2,1 if you touch his brother he gon pull out his gun.
OMB Peezy & DJ Drama ft. Morray - Real Shit: The Alabama-born, Cali-bred rapper OMB Peezy dropped a Gangsta Grillz tape this week called “Misguided”. Tape dope. I really like this track with Morray. Morray asks for that Real Shit back. You can keep that water-down shit. Peezy’s looking for that real love because it’s a lotta fakin goin on. He feels like real talent is becoming less important now. He even asks the Lord for that Real Shit back. Morray knows everything ain’t always good as it seems. He wishes the OGs woulda pointed him in a different direction but he’s not complaining. He likes where he landed. Other highlights from “Misguided”:
Pour One
Ronald Reagan
Need Your Space
Mufasa (ft. G Herbo)
JID - 2007: JID is gearing up for his new album drop this upcoming week. He dropped this track which was supposed to be the Outro but got cut for some reason. On it, he tells the story of going off to college on a football scholarship (full ride) but getting caught up in a situation and getting kicked out. He came back to ATL and told his pops he wanted to be a rapper and pops was like you can rap yo ass out this house. He was disappointed at first because he had always been a proponent of education but JID had other dreams. We got some bars from Dreamville head honcho Ib and Cole and JID’s pops tells his side of the story too. Tough Tune
Hit-Boy - Fireproof: Hit-boy’s back at it on double duty, producing and rapping. The haters don’t understand him and he thinks that’s understandable but he’s done with that back and forth. He’s in a territory unexplored. He had to climb mountains and leap over hurdles and he’s still standing. Beat flips and he starts cooking cooking. The lil dog turned into the big dog. He aint a killer but don’t push him because he’s wit it fully.
600Breezy - Shake That: Chicago’s 600Breezy dropped a new album called “Retaliation”. I like the track “Shake That”. It’s a club banger that samples the hit from a few years ago “Back Up On It” by Jersey’s Dougie F. He’s in the jiggle joint throwing cash and almost eating ass. He likes when bitties sit on his face but he can’t eat it if it smell like a fish market. He was raised with manners so he asks “May I have some sex?”
BIG30 ft. Hotboii - Scared of Us: After appearing on Hotboii’s latest album, Memphis’ BIG30 doubles back and gets a Hotboii feature for his new track “Scared of Us”. Beat slaps as 30 promises to bring trauma to all the opps. He also lets the shawtys know he’s not a one woman man so don’t get attached. Hotboii smashes niggas bitties, makes them fall in love, then sends them back home to they man (he’s not down with that love shit). He lets the fuck niggas know they can’t get next to him.
Pressa - Blame Me: Canada’s Pressa dropped this loosie and it’s a perfect beat for his flow. Mellow vibes, Pressa wonders why niggas be hatin on him and why some homies switched up on him. When the funk hits the fan everybody wants to put the Blame on him. He’s never pressed over no booty. He was locked down and some of his homies wouldn’t answer his call. They supposed to be brothers from another mother but lately he feels he can’t trust em. He liked it better when they was all broke and the bonds were tight.
Johnny 2 Phones - Back On Base: New Artist Alert! I found this track in the Apple Music New Hip-Hop playlist. The beat is super catchy, bouncy, poppy. It’s a feel-good, radio-friendly tune. Johnny used to wish he was gone but now he’s glad that he’s here. He don’t listen to opinions, get the fuck out his ear. He gotta get the bands and make sure his mom is straight. He was down but now he’s up. He struck out twice but no he’s Back on Base. Tough Tune.
