The Hit List #83: (November 21 - November 27)
ALLBLACK & DUSTY LOCANE - Burpees: East Coast and West Coast linked with this one as Cali’s AllBlack & NY’s Dusty Locane dropped this collab. Beat slaps, unlike Drake, AllBlack does rock Mike Amiri. He knows he can’t take the money with him so he’s gonna spend it. He also uses some NY lingo and talks about getting a Chopped Cheese & getting Sturdy. Dusty will empty the clip on anybody running up on him. He vows to never beef over a chick and he’s getting adjusted to the civil life (he’s used to the violence).
Tsu Surf ft. FL3A - Poetry: New Jersey’s own Tsu Surf dropped a new project this week called “DISPARU”. The battle rap legend shows off his lyrical mastery throughout the project. My favorite track is “Poetry” with FL3A who takes the wheel over the chipmunked, soul-sampled beat and drops one of the best verses of the year. Check out “DISPARU” and Free Tsunami Surf.
DaBoii ft. BabyTron - What’s What: SOBxRBE’s DaBoii dropped this loosie off with XXL Freshman BabyTron. D Boii is in love with the streets, but the streets don’t love him back. He likes to smoke za, drink drank, and spend an occasional evening with a big booty bitty (but he doesn't love her though). Tron comes through in some Cartier Buffs (so you know he’s from Detroit). He’s still rocking Hutch jewelry (RIP) and he ran so many plays he can’t remember What’s What.
Stormzy - Fire + Water: After dropping some super dope singles in the lead up, Stormzy dropped a new album this week called “This Is What I Mean”. Project is crazy, Stormzy really gets in his melodic bag and the songs are epic. My favorite track is “Fire + Water” where Stormzy laments losing his bae. Begs her to stay, promises to change, you know the drill. Ultimately, he knows they don’t mix like Fire & Water. The track is 8 minutes long and the beat flips twice, once it gets to the third section after the 6 minute mark you will be captivated. Go listen to “This Is What I Mean” and these highlights:
My Presidents Are Black
Bad Blood
Kool G Rap ft. AZ & 38 Spesh - Born Hustler: Hip-Hop Legend, Kool G Rap dropped this collab track with fellow legend AZ and up and coming barsmith 38 Spesh. Funky, smooth beat and all three men use their lyrical excellence and storytelling skills to talk about their hustling abilities. It's a superflyyy track.
Meek Mill - Living Wild: Meek Dropped “Flamerz 5” this week, a true mixtape where Meek goes in on some of the hottest instrumentals. His version of “God Did” is getting a lot of buzz. I love “Early Mornings” which he dropped previously and my favorite of the new batch is probably his flip of Gunna’s “Living Wild”. Check out “Flamerz 5” on SoundCloud and Audio Mack.
Money Man - Under Construction: Money Man dropped the deluxe of his most recent project “Blackout” this week, this one called “Blackout: The Sequel”. 10 new, en fuego tracks bringing the grand total to 20. My favorite of the new drops is this opening track “Under Construction”. Money Man admits to knowing what it feels to have nothing. He knows how it feels when it feels like your whole life is in dysfunction. If you’re looking to make a million dollars, he has the instructions. And his new shawty is a gym rat, her body is Under Construction.
Shy Glizzy - Underrated: Young Jefe dropped this new loosie this week (with an accompanying video). His shawty told him he’s Underrated. He’s fine with that because he’s a money maker. He swerves in his Lamborghini shitting on the haters. The opps think they are ahead of Glizzy, but he won already.
Quando Rondo & NBA Youngboy - It’s On: Quando Rondo & NBA YoungBoy dropped a collab album this week called “3860”. Dope project, I especially love when they get in their introspective, motivational bag. I also like when they get to poppin shit like they did on my favorite track “It’s On”. They let their opps know that they’re heavily armed and they’re willing to go shot for shot for anyone. The beat has hints of that New Orleans Bounce but also some electric guitar chords that give it a Rock n Roll feel.
Mount Westmore - Free Game: The OGs Ice Cube, Too Short, Snoop Dogg and E-40 dropped off this single in the lead up to their album release in the next week or two. Collectively they’ve got decades worth of life lessons, and on this track, they give us some Free Game. Even though the game is said to be sold and not told, they throw us a bone on this one.
Big Yavo & Rylo Rodriguez - Flip Phone: New Artist Alert! As not a ton of music dropped this week, I got to listen to every album that was released. One of the best was Big Yavo’s “The Largest”. My favorite track is “Skate Kicks” with GMF Fatboy but I also been jammin to “Flip Phone” with Rylo Rodriguez. It’s a dope flip of one of my favorite childhood tracks, 8Ball & MJG’s “Pimp Hard”. Check out “The Largest” and these highlights:
