The Hit List Week 88: (December 26 - January 1)
Uncle Murda - Rap-Up 22: Like Murda says in the song, he’s become a staple of the year’s end like Mariah. This track is something all Hip-Hop heads look forward to every year. Uncle Murda’s honest recap of the events of the year, highlights, lowlights, deaths, births, arrests and more. This year Will Smith & Chris Rock got bars, Tory & Meg. Gangsta Gibbs caught a stray, Diddy & Caresha, 15 minutes of fun over a Great John beat.
SahBabii - Telekinesis: One of the only projects that dropped this week was SahBabii’s “LeakOut”. Dope project, his melodic flow and one-of-a-kind voice makes his tracks special. My favorite is “Telekinesis”. Track is a vibe as Sahbabii talks about beating cheeks and gripping his tool. His shawty’s head so fire, he calls her Telekinesis.
Hit-boy & Avelino - 2 Certified: Superproducer Hit-Boy linked with UK’s Avelino for this loosie. The beat is Hit-boy’s twist on UK Drill. He went at his haters' necks and now he dumbs out over his own beat. It’s a cheat code when you can cook up your own beats. Your flow will always mesh with the beat because you built the whole thing from scratch. No matter what, he’s still giving his homies looks. AV is a London boy in a German ride. He shot his shot and made it from nothing to something like the American Dream.
Hardo ft. Rexx Life Raj - Apple Tree: Hardo dropped the Deluxe to his recent album “Top 10 Trappers DOA” last week and I got around to it this week. 6 new tracks and my favorite is “Apple Tree” featuring another one of the most underrated in the game Rexx Life Raj. The guys know that the Apple doesn’t fall from the tree so they want to overcome the sins of the father while also not passing on bad habits to their offspring.
redveil - 2daside: So redveil’s album is popping up on a lot of the Best of ‘22 lists and I have to admit, I don’t believe I heard it when it dropped (I obviously gotta check it out now). I had to check out this loosie he dropped. Summertime vibes as redveil spits about how they do it where he’s from (2daside of course). God’s got love for him and that’s all he cares about (and he gives no fucks about the negativity from the frauds).
Yung Booke ft. Future - Easter Fit: ATLien Yung Booke dropped a loosie with fellow GA MC Future. Zany, epic beat by ATLJacob. Future handles the hook and describes his many outlandish designer outfits. Booke is money hungry and he’s collecting blue hundos like old people collect stamps. He runs his city like Big U and he’s a hustler just like his pappy.
Rae Sremmurd - Torpedo: The two bros have a new album dropping “Sremm4Life” and they dropped off this loosie to end the year right. It’s a wavy, downtempo bop. The guys are taking off for that cash like a torpedo. They only keep the bitties around that suck they whole soul (balls and all). All the girls trying to find them like Nemo. They put the check first and dove into the deep end head first. They show up early and get right to work and that’s why you can bet the bag on them.
Wiz Khalifa - #NeverDrinkingAgain: Wiz coming through with one of the most relatable song titles of all time. I think we’ve all had multiple times in our lives where we said we’re Never Drinking Again (usually while writhing in pain from a hangover or waking up next to a wildebeest). He asks himself how did he slip up even though he promised he wouldn’t sip again. He doesn't want his head spinning. 2 shots turn to 40, then he wakes up hungover. The acoustic strings and minimal drums really sets the mood.
Young Sinn & Young Nudy - Ain’t Got Time: One of the only projects to drop this week came from Slaughter Gang artist Yung Sinn in the form of “Wrong Turn” a 17 track album that you know featured SG heavyweights 21 Savage & Lil Harold. My favorite track is his collab with Young Nudy “Ain’t Got Time”. Beat super duper crazy (can’t miss with the flute). Sinn talks about lying in wait for the opps then pouncing like a lion. He also has 3 poles on him at all times and he always makes time to spend with the bad bitties. Nudy bonecrushes the opps with the stick. East Atlanta is his hood and he stays in the trench. He’s doing shit they said he couldn’t and some will never understand. He’s touching all types of money now.
Fivio Foreign - Sicc & Tired: Fivi set the internet on fire when his BM went on live and aired him out for his late night antics with Asian Doll. Fivi then tweeted “I can’t dance with a friend? This world demonic” (lol) It’s only right he dropped something heartfelt. He’s Sicc & Tired, he’s sicc of niggas dying. He’s working through the pain (he’s not into crying). He feels like he’s blessed with a big assignment. They said it would be hard and now he knows they wasn’t lying.
