The Hit List Week 90: (January 9 - January 15)
Offset x Hit-Boy - 2 Live: From the A to LA. Superproducer Hit-Boy linked with Migo Offset for this strip club anthem. The title pays homage to the 2 Live Crew and the beat samples Project Pat’s “Chickenhead”. Both Hit & Set spit verses as they talk about making it rain for the chicks that like to get freaky like the girls in Uncle Luke’s videos.
Derin Falana - Good Problems: Derin been in the game a minute (I have quite a few of his songs on the hard drive). He’s back with some heat, with a soul sampled beat, and the flow is top tier. He talks about his life at this moment (he’s too blessed). He’s been cooking up and now he’s delivering the meal. No hook required.
21 Lil Harold ft. Young Nudy - My Real Dawgs: 21 Lil Harold kept his momentum going this week by dropping a new project called “After The Curse”. I love all the tracks he dropped in the lead up and all the new tracks go crazy. I been bumpin “A Milli Talk” and my favorite track is the Yung Nudy collab “My Real Dawgs”. As you can imagine, it’s about keeping your circle tight with only the ones who keep it 10 toes down. Check out “After The Curse” and these highlights:
Milli Talk

Ain’t On None (with 21 Savage)
Damn (ft. G Herbo)
Out of Time
Give No Fcks
PartyNextDoor - Her Old Friends: He’s Back! After appearing on stage a couple months ago, the Canadian sensation PartyNextDoor returns with a new loosie this week called “Her Old Friends”. Produced by OG Parker (and PND’s nigga G Ride), this one is a downtempo classic R&B tune. He’s peeved because the shawtys be fuckin anybody. So in return he smashes his chicks old friends (or something, I don’t know what’s going on… everybody fuckin everbody I guess)
Grafh, 38 Spesh, & Conway The Machine - Rain Falls: Hip-Hop! Hip-Hop! 3 lyricists linked for this loosie. This is boom-bap excellence. Bars top tier, it’s that Griselda shit, you don’t need me to explain.
BabyTron & Rico Nasty ft. Remble - RIP Hutch: XXL Freshman and one of Detroit’s finest BabyTron dropped a part two to his Bin Reaper 3 project, this one “Bin Reaper 3: New Testament”. 26 new tracks (goddamn) to go with the 15 on the 1st, Tron been cooking up in the stu. I’m impressed by his obscure 90’s kid pop culture references like Beetleborgs and Ani-morphs and also his ability to pick out dope beats with recognizable samples. I really loved the track with him Remble and Rico Nasty “RIP Hutch”. Crazy beat and their contrasting flows makes for a kaleidoscope of a track (a beautiful one at that). Do yourself a favor, check out “Bin Reaper 3: New Testament” and these standouts:
Next Level 2
Michigan Ave
CatDog (with BabyFace Ray)
BeetleBorgs (with Cordae)
Mr. Hanky
Golden Child
Sunday School
Mainstream Tron 2
You Would’ve Thought (with DaBoii)
Moneybagg Yo & Glorilla - On Wat U On: Two of Tennessee’s finest got together for a new loosie. Heavyweight Moneybagg Yo and ascending starlet Glorilla linked for this back and forth, relationship turmoil track. People was hating online talking bout it’s a rehash of the Kendrick & Taylour Paige track “We Cry Together” but the streets let it be known that it’s more of a remake of Project Pat’s “Chickenheads” and also that relationship back and forth tracks are timeless because as long as there are humans on this Earth their will be relationships (at the very least reproduction to keep the species going) and because of that, there will always be conflict, static, and the need to let that energy go one way or the other.
03Greedo & Mike Free ft. OhGeesy - I Can’t Control Myself: He’s Home!!! After 5 long years of being locked up in the Texas Corrections System, Jason Jamal Jackson bka 03 Greedo has been released. To celebrate, he dropped off a new project with Mike Free called “Free 03” which I’m now realizing is an amalgamation of their stage names in addition to a call to free the man (double entendre). It’s a dope project, there are a couple tracks he recorded from the prison phone, so the sound quality is less than stellar, but outside of those, it’s a certified slapper. I loved the previously released tracks “Pourin” with BlueBucksClan and “Drop Down” with KenTheMan. Of the new tracks, I love the collab with fellow Californian, Shoreline Mafia’s OHGHEESY. “I Can’t Control Myself” is a West Coast bop at its core, with a snap beat and summertime vibes. Checkout “Free 03” and these highlights:
Took A Little Minute
No Free Features (with Drakeo The Ruler)
Pourin (ft. BlueBucksClan)
Drop Down (ft. KenThe Man)
Breakfast
Swizz Beatz & Jadakiss - Hustle, Repeat: Ruff Ryders Swizz & Kiss linked for this new track for the new season of “Godfather Of Harlem”. When Swizz on the beat, you know it’s some heat. Jada’s in rare form as the guys urge us to Hustle then Repeat.
Vedo - Somebody Else: Shoutout to Vedo for bringing traditional R&B back. He dropped a new album this week called “Mood Swings” and it’s a major W for R&B and especially male R&B artists (who the streets say weren’t keeping up with the R&B ladies). First things first, this album has NO SKIPS. It’s the only album I listened to all the way through this week. All Gas, No Brakes! I loved the “Do You Mind” record with C Breezy, I been playing “Waterfalls” on repeat (even at the gym, and I don’t listen to R&B at the gym) but I really really love the “Somebody Else” record. It’s my favorite Uptempo break-up song since Big Sean’s “IDFWU”. Usually these tracks are downtempo like Boyz II Men “End of the Road” or Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” but when it’s upbeat it’s celebratory, like thank you Lord, I’m out, and I got something new. You gotta go listen to Vedo’s “Mood Swings” and add every track to that late night playlist.
Gucci Mane & Kodak Black - King Snipe: Guwop and Yak dropped a new collab with a super dope beat and bars assuring the opps that they are in fact the biggest steppers.
GoodJoon - Free Beer: The House Party remake premiered this weekend and the official Soundtrack dropped too. Many of the tracks are classics but there were some new tracks too. “Free Beer” by GoodJoon has similar vibes to Asher Roth’s “I Love College”. Fast cars + that Za + Free Beer = GoodJoon having a really good time. He’s getting litty for his people and especially the bitties.
Chiiild ft. Lucky Daye - Good For Now: Two soulful voices. One Track. Over a beat that gives it an Alternative sound, Chiiild sings to his main thang. He don’t care what their official status is, whatever it is, it’s Good For Now.
MURS - Oakland (Luv): California’s own MURS dropped a new EP called “Guide to the World’s Greatest Cities”. Dope project, it’s a personal project, each song is a different city and he spits about how it’s connected to his career. I loved T-O-Y-K-O and the track “Oakland (Luv)” is a slapper. Even though he’s from LA, he’s got major love for The Bay.
Koffee & Jessie Reyez ft. Sam Smith - Gimme: Jamaican artist Koffee and Canadian songstress Jessie Reyez are set to drop a collab project soon. On this one, they enlisted UK singer Sam Smith (who has the best SNL performance I’ve ever seen) for this new loosie in the leadup for the project. Island vibes with a catchy hook as the trio ask that special someone to give them (Gimme) what they want.
J.I. - It’s Officially Done: J.I. the Prince of New York dropped a new loosie this week and it’s straight gas. It’s a flip of 112’s smash hit “It’s Over Now” which makes the title “It’s Officially Done” on the money. It also sounds like Mobb Deep’s Quiet Storm (same beat in “It’s Over Now”) but I think that samples Melle Mel’s “White Lines” so this is like the Greatgrandkid of that track. Check it out.
Bizzy Banks - Ok Ok Ok: NY Driller Bizzy Banks dropped a single this week. NY Drill beat (of course). He calls out the fake gangsters. They claim to be shooters but don’t have no poles. They say they gonna spin the block and all BB gotta say is Ok Ok Ok. He will be on the block with his gang locked and loaded. He ain’t worried bout nothing.
GANG51E JUNE - Kisses 2 The Sky: Another week, another great find on the Apple Music New Hip-Hop playlist. This one by GANG51E JUNE and it’s a tribute to all the loved ones we lost to the Soulja Life. To honor them, he encourages us to fill the cup up with some Henny & Remy then catch the opps before sundown. The choir interpolating 2pac’s “Life Goes On” at the end really sauces it up.
Heembeezy - My Favorite: Another great find on the Apple Music playlist. Heembeezy dropped this wavy track with a snap beat and it’s dedicated to his bitties who have HB as #1 on their list. He’s their favorite so he don’t mind breaking bread, getting some trees, some drank then taking her out on a date. After the date he wants to eat it then beat, lick it then stick it. He likes em nasty.
Popstar Benny & Tony Shhnow - All The Girls <3: Tony Shhnow came onto my radar a couple months ago when he dropped “Can’t Say I’m Broke” and I’ve had that one on repeat ever since. He dropped a new catchy track with producer Popstar Benny this week. It has that catchy Philly Bounce sound that sounds like Jersey Club that has been popularized recently by “2Rare”. The track has interpolations of NERD’s “Everyone Nose (All The Girls Standing In The Line For The Bathroom)” and Lil John’s “Yeah” adlib. Tony likes his shawty’s thick, his drank purple, and his paper stacked to the ceiling.
Fly Anakin - Blicky Bop: Super dope track! It has a beat that sounds like 90’s Quiet Storm R&B (that Johnny Gill, New Edition “Can You Stand The Rain” type vibe). Beat is a nice contrast to Fly Anakin talking bout doing his dance while he got the Blicky on him. He doesn't want to glorify violence, only speak facts.

El Michels Affair & Black Thought - Glorious Game
