​2Rare - Rare’s Room: Philly’s 2Rare dropped a new bop this week that samples Silk’s “Meeting In My Bedroom”. Of course it has that Philly Bounce sound (high tempo, with heavy bass). It also has some NY Drill elements and you know the lyrics are grown and sexy like the original track.

JayDaYoungan - My Love: RIP Jay DaYoungan. His team dropped his first posthumous album this week called “Forever 23 2x”. Super dope project, I especially love the Love Ballads like “My Love” (that’s a whole lotta love in one sentence). Check out “Forever 23 2x” and these highlights:

Saint Jhn - Overstimulated: Saint Jizzle is back to cooking up in the kitchen. He dropped this new loosie this week that finds him talking mad shit but also admitting that even though he’s Overstimulated he’s bored at the same time. He found his way through the maze and doesn’t have the energy to give everybody else directions. He’s getting money and he’s at the top where it’s lonely, but he’s comfortable in solitude.

2KBaby - I Left: 2KBaby dropped off a new project this week called “Scared 2 Love” and I love it just as much as his last project. My favorite track is the previously released “Mood Swings” and I also love “I Left” which finds 2KB reminiscing about when he was down. Now he’s up and his diamonds shine so bright they blind niggas. He’s gotta hella cash, fresh whips, and all the bitties wanna smash. Other standouts from “Scared 2 Love”:

J.I.D. & Lute - Ma Boy: Who doesn’t love a good homie anthem? The Dreamville duo JID & Lute dropped this new track set to be on the Creed III soundtrack. In the trailers so far, the film is about a friendship that went awry with one friend climbing to the top and the other finding himself behind them prison walls. This track is about the good times.

Big Boogie ft. Fat Trel - Pussy Monster: CMG’s Big Boogie aka Big Dude dropped a new project this week called “Definition of Big Dude”. He definitely showed off another dimension with more melodic flows and tracks for the ladies on this project. One of those tracks is “Pussy Monster” and he got the perfect person to collab with, Slutty Boy Fat Trel. Check out “Definition of Big Dude” and these highlights:

Lil Keed - Long Way To Go: RIP King Keed. Not even a year has passed since his untimely demise from Eosinophilia, a medical condition. This is his first posthumous release. It’s hard doing posthumous write ups because the artist was in the moment when creating the track yet we speak about them in the past tense. The one thing I can say about this track: It’s a Tough Tune.

Tay B - Lost Count: This Tay B album crazy! It’s actually a Deluxe of an album he dropped last year called “4eva In My Bag”. I heard the whole thing for the first time this week. This new Detroit sound is among the best in Hip-Hop, I’d say Top 2 with NY Drill in terms of 2023 influence. I’ve had the whole album on repeat. “Half On The Food” with Babyface Ray and GT is my favorite of the original tracks and “I Lost Count” is my favorite of the Deluxe tracks. Russ - Can’t Get This Right: Russ is a man with a plan and part of that plan is to keep the product coming. Somebody tried to come at his neck and advised artists  to put out less music and focus on quality. Crazy thing about Russ’s output is that it’s both high quantity AND high quality. And he did it again this week with this melodic track about love on the rocks. He tries to get it right but him and shawty be fussin and fighting. They both know they should call it quits but they don’t wanna be alone. 

SG Lewis - Oh Laura: British crooner SG Lewis dropped a new project this week called “AudioLust & HigherLove”. Dope project. I love the Lucky Daye & Ty Dolla collab. Also a big fan of the track “Oh Laura” which has a funky 80’s pop vibe. He lets his shawty Laura know that he’s cutting her off. They had a good thing going but things changed and now he’s letting her go. Other standouts from “AudioLust & HigherLove”:

Terrace Martin ft. Channel Tres - Chucks: Multi-hyphenate Terrace Martin dropped a new bop with Channel Tres this week and it’s an ode to the classic sneaker that is a West Coast staple. The track is jazzy/funky and you can totally hear this playing in the club with booties shaking all around. Also a great track to cruise in the whip with the windows down on a brisk afternoon.

Antha Pantha - BWA: This is the 2nd Antha Pantha track I’ve heard and it’s the 2nd one that’s ended up on the Hit List. She’s 2 for 2. This one, BWA (Bitches Wit Attitude) is another slapper. AP goes hard every time (like her life depended on it). She just tryna stack paper and get her salad tossed (I feel that!). She only stay round BWA’s and the singing part on the chorus makes it sound like those classic 90’s tracks (ie “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”). 

FL Dusa ft. Kevin Gates - Exhausted:  Spitter FL Dusa dropped this new loosie with Kevin Gates this week. It’s that Down South Fat Nigga Street Pain Music that has been popularized by Rod Wave, Morray & Derez De’shon (although neither Dusa or Gates is heavyset). They got it out the mud and been running up the racks but they still experience heartache from various relationships. The love that they’ve shown got they soul’s Exhausted. It’s hard for them to trust because they’ve been left out in the cold too often.

OhGeesy ft. Cash Kidd - GEEKALEEK: Shoreline Mafia’s OhGeesy is rolling out his new project “GEEZYWORLD 2” and he dropped off this single. It’s a flip of Petey Pablo’s smash hit “Freek-A-Leek” and he brought in Cash Kidd for the assist.

Karri - 3AM in Oakland: Another week, another great find on the Apple Music playlist. The first part of the track is smooth and melodic and finds Karri spittin to his big booty Barbadian bae. He’s coolin in Hollywood in his Rolls-Royce and he’s down to buy shawty anything she wants. He don’t wanna play no games and all he asks for is honesty. Beat flips with keys leading the way to something that sounds like vintage Drake.
